ABSTRACT
AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ MASTERY IN NOUN CLAUSE
(A Descriptive Study of the Sixth Semester Students of English Department
of FKIP UMP in Academic Year 2016/ 2017)

This study dealt with an analysis of students‟ mastery in noun clause which was aimed at finding out the students‟ level in mastering noun clause. This study employed descriptive study as a method of the research. In this case, the sixth semester students of English Department of FKIP UMP in academic year 2016/2017, which consisted of 95 students and 50 % of them or 48 students was taken randomly as a sample. The writer used test in which consisted of 30 items multiple choice and 10 items combining sentences. Then, the result of it was analyzed. Based on the result of the data analysis, it was found that the mastery level of noun clause of the sixth semester of English Departmentof FKIP UMP in academic year 2016/2017 mostly belonged to good category in which the number of the students‟ mastery in its category was 29 students or 60.41%. After that, the number of students who belonged to very good category was 6 students or 12.50%. Then, there were 10 students or 20.83% belonged to fair category. On the other hand, there were 2 students or 4.16% belonged to poor category. Furthermore, there was only 1 student or 2.08% belonged to very poor category. In brief, it can be assumed that there were 93.74% students at the sixth semester of English Department of FKIP UMP in academic year 2016/2017 mastered noun clause.
Whereas, the result of the mean of the students‟ mastery in noun clause showed that their mastery wa s in point 66.71%. Therefore, the students‟ level in mastering noun clause in this research can be categorized as good.
