First, I would like to say thanks to Allah SWT for the blessing and guidance
given to me. I would like to say thanks to my parents who always support me. And
also, I would like to say thanks to my friends, my supervisors and all of the people
who support and encourage me in writing this final project entitled “TEACHING
VOCABULARY USING PICTURES TO THE 3rd GRADE OF SDN
BULUKANTIL SURAKARTA.”
The main reason that attracts my mind to write this final project report is to
describe the learning vocabulary process by using pictures. The activities are done by
me during the job training in SDN Bulukantil Surakarta. I also describe the activities
of using pictures in teaching vocabulary.
I hope this final project can be a useful reference for the readers or English
teacher and gives them more information about teaching vocabulary to the young
learners.

ABSTRACT

English Diploma Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret
University.
This final project is written based on the job training activity which has been
done by me as an English teacher in SDN Bulukantil Surakarta. The objectives of this
report are to describe the application of teaching English vocabulary using pictures
and to find out the problems, solutions in teaching English vocabulary to the third
grade.
In collecting the data, I interviewed the supervisor to get more information
about the school and discussed the material that would be taught based on the
curriculum. The process of teaching English vocabulary for the third grade of SDN
Bulukantil Surakarta consists of five steps: Warming Up, Reviewing, Presentation,
Assessment and Ending the lesson. In teaching vocabulary, I used pictures as the
media. Pictures brought benefits in the learning process and made the learning

process more effective.
In the learning process, I also found out the problems during the process of
teaching vocabulary to the third grade of SDN Bulukantil, Surakarta. The problems
were the students’ behavior, mispronounced words, limited time, students’ low
motivation, and writing English vocabularies. In this final project, I also gave the
solutions to solve the problems.
I hope this final project report can be a useful reference for the Teacher of
SDN Bulukantil to improve their performance and the English Diploma students to
conduct the other research on the similar problems.
