Indonesian Information Paper

The Fifth Meeting of ACCSQ Wood Based PWG
Brunei Darussalam, 11-12 July 2007
STANDARD HARMONISATION OF R & D LABORATORY TESTING STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES
Compiled version of standards between SNI (Indonesian Standard) and MS (Malaysian Standard)
NO.
1
1.

KIND OF TESTING
2
Determination of dimension of panels
- The dimension of panels testing
- The measuring of thickness

SNI (Indonesian Standard)
3
- The thickness, width, length and

squareness
- apply on each corners (4 points)
- The accuracy is not less than 0,05 mm

- Squareness

2.

Sampling and test pieces
- Sampling

MS (Malaysian Standard)
4
- The thickness, width, length, squareness,
flatness and edge straightness
- apply on 8 points (4 points at the corners
and 4 points at the middle of each edges)
- The accuracy is not less than 0,1 mm

- It's measured at the distance of 1000 mm

from the corner of the panel, with the
maximum deviation is 0,5 mm.
Especially for plywood, the squareness is
measured as the difference of the two
diagonals length of the panel, with maximum
tolerance is 3 mm

- It's measured at the distance of (1000 ± 1) mm
from the corner of the panel, with the
maximum deviation is 0,2 mm.

- The determination of samplings are
differed. There are sampling for
visual testing and sampling for
laboratory testing
- Both the number of panels (n) and
the number of test pieces (m)
are determined by the number of
all panels that will be tested (lot)
- For plywood: the test pieces

must represent by all the part of panel
For particle board and fibreboard: the number of
sampling (n) is not clear

- Sampling determination is determined by
the kind of testing (MS 1787: Part 2: 2005
table 1).
- There're not determined by the number of
sample panels (n). There are not clear
- The number of test pieces are based
on the characteristic of panels that will be tested

two lines parallel to and at a distance of 25 mm
from the edges

the minimum number of test pieces is 1 piece
- 50 mm x 50 mm, to an accuracy of 0,05 mm

fibreboard)

- The dimensions of test pieces
- Test methods

- 70 mm x 200 mm
- Based on water immersion

- The minimum number of test pieces is 4 pieces
- The dimension is not specified but the minimum
weight of the test piece is 20 g
4
- the minimum number of test pieces is 6 pieces
- 50 mm x 50 mm
- The thickness is measured at a point of intersection of the diagonals
- The length and width are measured at two lines,
parallel to the edges, along lines which pass
through the center of opposite edges
- The test pieces are conditioned before testing,
at the humidity (65 ± 5) % and temperature
(20 ± 2)°C

the minimum number of test pieces is 6 pieces
- 50 mm x 50 mm, to an accuracy of 0,01 mm
- water temperature (20 ± 1)°C and pH (7 ± 1)
- The duration of immersion depend on panel
types

- (300 ± 1) mm x ( 50 ± 1) mm
- Based on the changes of relative humidity
