ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pencarian informasi
tentang perkuliahan oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi melalui jejaring
sosial Twitter. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode
deskriptif kuantitatif. Berdasarkan fokus penelitian yang telah ditentukan, maka
penelitian ini membahas berbagai aspek mengenai bagaimana pencarian informasi
tentang perkuliahan oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi melalui jejaring
sosial Twitter. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan melalui teknik
angket, wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian
yang didapatkan dari penyebaran angket kepada 60 mahasiswa yang mewakili
dari 2711 mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, menunjukkan bahwa pencarian
informasi oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran
melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu yang pertama permulaan menggunakan Twitter,
kemudian penyeleksian informasi tentang perkuliahan, setelah itu pengembangan
pencarian informasi, perumusan informasi, pengkoleksian informasi di Twitter,
dan yang terakhir adalah penyajian informasi. Saran penulis khususnya dalam
pencarian informasi perkuliahan oleh mahasiswa melalui Twitter, agar dapat
mengidentifikasi secara mendalam sumber-sumber informasi yang ada di Twitter,
dengan cara melihat dari informasi yang diberikan oleh admin, kemudian
ditelusuri kembali sumber-sumber yang bersangkutan dengan informasi tersebut,
agar asal-usul informasi tersebut dapat di pertanggung jawabkan. Saran lainnya
adalah kepada admin selaku pemilik akun yang banyak di follow oleh pengguna
Twitter lain, agar dapat memberikan informasi yang lebih banyak, yang dapat
diperlukan dan digunakan oleh mahasiswa lainnya, sehingga menjadi informasi
yang sangat bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi selaku
Follower.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to find out how to search for information about the lecture
by students of the Faculty of Communication through social network Twitter. The
method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. Based on the
research focus has been determined, this study discusses the various aspects of
how to search for information about the lecture by students of the Faculty of
Communication through social network Twitter. Collecting data in this study
through questionnaire techniques, in-depth interviews, observation and literature
study. The results obtained from distributing the questionnaire to 60 students
representing the student Faculty of Communication Sciences 2711, show that the
search for information by the students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences
University of Padjadjaran through several stages, the first beginning to use
Twitter, then selecting the information about the lecture, after which the
development information retrieval, the formulation of information, collecting
information on Twitter, and the last is the presentation of information. Advice
authors especially in information retrieval lectures by students through Twitter, in
order to identify in depth the sources of information available on Twitter, by
looking from the information provided by the admin, and then traced back to the
sources concerned with information, so that the origin Citations for the liability
can be justified. Other suggestions are to the admin account as the owner of the
lot at follow by other Twitter users, in order to provide more information, which
can be required and used by other students, so it becomes a very useful
information for students of Faculty of Communication as a Follower.
