Pengaruh Rasio Partikel Batang Kelapa Sawit dan Serutan Meranti Terhadap Kualitas Papan Partikel

ABSTRACT

YEHESKIEL SIMANJUNTAK: Ratio Effect Of Oil Palm Trunk Particle And
Meranti Shavings On Particle Board Quality . Supervised by RUDI HARTONO
and APRI HERI ISWANTO.
The purpose of these study were to analyze the effect combination of
meranti shavings and oil palm trunk particle of the phsycal and mechanical
properties from particle board and to evaluate the best composition of oil palm
trunk particle:meranti shavings.Variation in composition ratio were 100:0, 75:25,
50:50, 25:75, 0:100 (oil palm trunk particle:meranti shavings). Board were made
with size 25 cm x 25 cm x 1 cm with a target density of 0,7 gr/cm3 and press 30
kg/cm2 at temperatures 170oC for 8 minute.The boards would be tested the
phsycal and mechanical properties and would be compared by SNI 03-2105-2006.
The result showed that density,moisture content, water absorption, thickness
swelling, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture and internal bond were 0,600,64 g/cm3, 3,61-5,51%, 30,94-83,73%, 7,99-18,79%, 9623,48-12461,38 kg/cm2,
105,92-130,34 kg/cm2, 2,49-3,00 kg/cm2. Phsycal properties (density and moisture
content) fulfilled the standard SNI 03-2105-2006, while the thickness swelling
only 2 board that fulfilled standard that was board with composition ratio 25:75
and 0:100. Test of mechanical properties (internal bond and modulus of rupture)
fulfilled the standar SNI 03-2105-2006, and for MOE didn’t fulfill the
standard.The best composition ratio of oil palm trunk particle:meranti shavings

was 50:50.

Dan Serutan Meranti Terhadap Kualitas Papan Partikel. Di bawah bimbingan
RUDI HARTONO dan APRI HERI ISWANTO.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kombinasi serutan
kayu meranti dan partikel batang kelapa sawit terhadap sifat fisis dan mekanis
papan partikel dan untuk memperoleh perbandingan komposisi partikel batang
kelapa sawit : serutan meranti yang terbaik. Variasi perbandingan komposisi
adalah 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 (partikel batang kelapa sawit:serutan
meranti). Papan dibuat berukuran 25 cm x 25 cm x 1 cm dengan target kerapatan
0,7 gr/cm3 dan tekanan 30 kg/cm2 pada suhu 170oC selama 8 menit. Hasil

penelitian ini akan dibandingkan dengan SNI 03-2105-2006. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa nilai kerapatan, kadar air, daya serap air, pengembangan
tebal, modulus elastis, modulus patah, dan keteguhan rekat internal berturut-turut
ialah 0,60-0,64 g/cm3, 3,61-5,51%, 30,94-83,73%, 7,99-18,79%, 9623,4812461,38 kg/cm2, 105,92-130,34 kg/cm2, 2,49-3,00 kg/cm2. Sifat fisis (kerapatan
dan kadar air) telah memenuhi standar SNI 03-2105-2006, sementara pada
pengembangan tebal hanya 2 papan saja yang memenuhi standar yaitu papan
dengan perbandingan 25:75 dan 0:100. Pengujian sifat mekanis (keteguhan rekat
internal dan MOR) sudah memenuhi standar SNI 03-2105-2006 dan untuk MOE
tidak satupun memenuhi standar. Perbandingan komposisi partikel batang kelapa
sawit:serutan meranti terbaik adalah 50:50.
