BACKGROUND
Hypertension is high blood pressure in the arteries (Muhammadun, 2010), according to
ISH / WHO and JNC 7 Report, 2009, someone said memeiliki hypertension when blood
pressure greater than 140/90 mm Hg. Hypertension is a disease caused by blood circulation
ganaguan still a problem in public health (Muttaqin, 2009). Many patients with hypertension

morbidity and health problems in the community more and more difficult to repair.
The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is based on the measurement and history of the
disease was 32.2% (Rahajeng, 2009) the prevalence of hypertension in the island of Java was
41.9% (setiawan 2011). Data hypertensive patients kediri city health department in the
southern region of the city health center in 2011 there were 4807 people. In 2012 there were
4807 people, in January 2013 there were 540 people with hypertension. the data shows that
the prevalence of hypertension patients are so large that they require proper
penatalakasanaan.
Hypertension may occur due to an increase in heart rate and stroke volume as a result of
the activity of the sympathetic nervous system (Corwin, 2009). so menngakibatkan increase
in contractility of the heart muscle fibers by means of selective organ vasokontraksi pariver
(Muttaqin, 2009). if it happens continuously it will jatung thickened muscle (hypertrophy),
the pump function of the heart as to be disrupted, the result can damage the blood vessels of
the brain, the eyes (retinopathy), and kidney failure (Muhammadun, 2010). if n blood
pressures in hypertensive patients can be maintained in the normal value of hypertensive

patients can obtain optimal health, avoid the risk of cardiovascular disease complications, and
the patient's quality of life increased.
Disease nurses is to help maintain blood pressure in hypertensive patients at optimal
level by giving kepeerawatan care interventions, ie deep breathing relaxation therapy (deep
breathing) (breathing Izzo) mechanical relaxation deep breathing (deep breathing) in the form
of a state of inspiration and expression breathing with respiratory frequency be 6-10 times per
minute resulting in a decrease in cardiac output, the contraction of heart muscle fibers, and
the volume of blood makes blood pressure is lowered (Muttaqin, 2009) the mechanism of

lowering the activity of nerve The sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve activity increases,

METHODE
At this penenlitian design or design researchers used addalah based design experiment the

post test and one control group. Variable in this research is sisitolik blood pressure, diastolic

blood pressure and a decrease in diastolic blood. the population in the study were all patients
with hypertension in the southern region of the city health centers of the city.

This penenlitian sample of 60 respondents. data collection to analyze penenlitian variables

(blood pressure) by using the tool spigmamometer mercury. deep breathing treatment

RESULTS
The characteristics of hypertensive patients in health centers kendiri city of the southern city
that the respondents in this study distinguished: gender by age, education level, possible
causes and characteristics hpertensi complaints.
Hypertensive patients with a prevalence of 50% at most were female (76.7) while those
aged> 55 years as much as 58.3% .perbandinganjumblah patients with hypertension at age>

36.7% and mostly has an education below secondary school as much as 70% can be
concluded that most hypertensive patients have low education.
