Pernikahan merupakan satu peristiwa bersejarah dalam rentan kehidupan manusia, dimana
sebuah pernikahan sudah sewajarnya diharapkan berlangsung hingga seumur hidup. Dalam
memilih siapakah yang akan menjadi pendamping hidupnya, setiap orang tentu mempunyai
pertimbangan khusus yang secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi perilaku memilih
pasangannya. Mengenai hal tersebut, usia menjadi salah satu faktor penting yang harus
diperhatikan oleh mereka yang ingin menikah, tidak hanya pada usia berapa mereka
dibolehkan untuk menikah, melainkan juga pada perbandingan usia antara pria dan wanita
tersebut. Meski bukanlah satu-satunya faktor yang harus dipenuhi, namun usia suami yang
lebih tua dipercaya akan membawa pernikahan kearah yang lebih baik, mengingat suami
sudah sepantasnya menjadi pemimpin dalam rumah tangga dan keluarga. Akan tetapi, pada
kenyataanya, pernikahan dimana pria lebih muda dari istri semakin banyak dijumpai.
Perbedaan usia diantara mereka pun semakin berfariasi, mulai 1-2 tahun, sampai lebih dari 15
tahun. Fenomena ini tentu menimbulkan banyak tanda Tanya, dan menjadi hal yang tidak
hanya menarik untuk diperbincangkan, tetapi juga penting untuk dikaji dalam satu penelitian
ilmiah. Untuk itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahi faktor apasajakah yang
melatarbelakangi seorang pria tertarik dan menikahi wanita yang jauh lebih tua,
permasalahan pernikahan apasaja kah yang mereka hadapi, dan bagaimana coping suami atas
permasalahan tersebut.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan
adalah wawancara. Adapun subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 2 orang pria yang
menjalani pernikahan beda usia jauh dimana suami lebih muda dari istri. Dalam hal ini,
keabsahan data diuji dengan menggunakan teknik Triangulasi sumber.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa faktor yang melatarbelakangi seorang pria tertarik dan
menikahi wanita jauh lebih tua diatasnya adalah karena karakter kepribadian yang kurang
matang, identifikasi figure tertentu pada diri pasangan yang diharapkan, adanya keyakinan
bahwa wanita yang lebih muda tidak dapat diandalkan dalam rumah tangga, serta kehadiran
pasangan sebagai sosok yang memenuhi kebutuhan akan dimiliki dan dicintai (Belonging &
Love) yang sempat terhenti. Adapun permasalahan pernikahan sebagai akibat dari perbedaan
usia yang terlalu jauh dalam pernikahan BUJ ini, lebih dikarenakan perbedaan kematangan
kepribadian, kesenjangan kondisi fisiologis, dan perbedaan minat perkembangan antara
suami dengan pasangan. Ketiga hal tersebut, kemudian secara tidak langsung menimbulkan
masalah tersendiri dalam pernikahan mereka. Menghadapi hal tersebut, suami yang jauh lebih
muda ini kemudian cenderung menghindar, mengabaikan, dan menunjukan perrilaku pasif
agresif.
ABSTRACT
The marriage was one historic incident in susceptible the life of humankind, where a
marriage has naturally been expected to take place through to for life. In chose who what will
become the colleague of his life, anyone certainly had special consideration that in a manner
indirectly influenced the behavior chose his couple. Concerning this matter, the age became
one of the important factors that must be paid attention to by them who wanted to marry, not
only in the age how many they were allowed to marry, but also in the age comparison
between the man and the woman. Although not the only factor that must be filled, but the age
of the older husband was believed will bring the marriage to the side of that was better.,
remembered the husband appropriately has become the leader in the household and the
family. But in fact, the marriage when the man was younger than the wife more often was
encountered. The difference of the age around them then increasingly different, began 1-2
years, to more than 15 years. This phenomenon certainly caused many question marks, and
became the matter that only did not pull to be discussed, but also important to be studied in
one scientific research. So, the aim of this research was to know any factors that formed the
background of a man be interested and married the far more older woman, the problem of any
marriage that was dealt with by them, and how coping the husband on this problem.
This research was the qualitative research. The method of the data collection that was used
was the interview. As for the subject of the research that was used was 2 men who underwent
the marriage of the far age differences where the husband was younger than the wife. In this
case, a legality of the data was tested by using the technique of source Triangulation.
Result of the research of showing that the factor that formed the background of a man be
interested and married the woman were far more older above was because of the character of
the not more well thought out identity, the identification figure certain to himself the couple
who was hoped for. The existence of the conviction that the younger woman could not be
relied on in the household, as well as the presence of the couple as the noose that satisfied the
requirements was had and loved (Belonging and Love) that could be stoped. As for the
problem of the marriage as resulting from the difference of the age that to far in this marriage,
more was caused by the difference of maturity of the identity, the physiological condition
gap, and the difference of interest of the development between the husband and the couple.
The three matters, afterwards in manner indirectly caused the special problem in their
marriage. Faced this matter, this far more younger husband afterward tended to dodge,
ignored, and showed passive aggressive act.
