There are two specific aims of this study: 1.
To identify types of translation shifts applied in the translation of English locative prepositional phrases into Indonesian.
2. To find out the impacts of translation shifts occurred in translating English
locative prepositional phrases into Indonesian.
1.4 Significance of the Study
This study is significantly expected to have both academic and practical significances to learn translation as a process and procedure, mainly inside the
frame of translating the English locative prepositional phrases into Indonesian. The significance of this study can be divided as follows:
1.4.1 Academic Significance
There are two academic significances of this study, they are: 1.
The finding of this study is expected to give understanding to the translators and target language readers of the possible translations of the English locative
prepositional phrases into Indonesian. 2.
The result of this study is also expected to enrich the research in translation and give contribution to the translation studies especially in translating the English
locative prepositional phrases into Indonesian.
1.4.2 Practical significance
There are two practical significances of this study: 1.
The findings of this study are expected to give constructive information to English-Indonesian translators regarding the way to translate English and
Indonesian locative prepositional phrases. 2.
It is hoped that through this study, the knowledge of translating English locative prepositional phrases can be improved accordingly.
