(F) Adolescent is development period transition between children and
adulthood. In this period, adolescent were searching their self identity.
This is marked with close relationship with their friends. In this period,
need desire and interest of adolescent are beginning for improve. One of
needs in adolescent is need fer self esteem. Self esteem of adolescent
developes and shaped in interaction to others, through appreciation and
accepldnce, and aether's behavior to pertinent indiv!dual. Existence of
adolescent want" to be confessed by others with try to be part of them.
Need for existence confession causes adolescents with high self esteem
to behave bullying in school to their juniors. They don't accept if there is a
junior do anything may hurt their self esteem.
Bullying is awared aggressive behavior form by person or group who has
bigger power to weak person, aims to hurt victim physically, verbally and
psychologically, and done repeatedly in a certain times.
Self esteem is assessment, respectation and confidence of somebody
about ability, power and self meaning based subjective standarts were
expressed verbally and behavior.
This reseach aims to find the existence correlation between self esteem
with bullying behavior tendencies in adolescents. The population in this
research is 180 persons. The sample in this research 123 third year
students SMKN 7 Rawamangun, in which there are 102 boys and 21 girls
as respondents. Sample taking was done by used random sampling
technique. Data taking technique by used Likert scale. Scale was used is
self esteem scale and bullying behavior tendencies scale.
The approach was used in this research is quantitative approachment with
correlational research method aims to knows how far the variation in one
variable correlate with variation in one or more others variables based
correlation coeffident.
After both of validity scale tested by Pearson product moment and both of
reliability tested by Alpha Cronbach, for self esteem scale was reached 37
items were valids and reliability coefficient is 0,869, all valid items in this
self esteem scale were used as measuring instruments in the research,
and for bullying behavior tendencies scale was reached 69 item were valid
and reliability coefficient is 0,939., but no that valid all items were used as
measu1ing instruments, with consideration of work efficiency and
effectivity of researcher and time limited af respondents. Valid items were
used as measuring instruments of research were choosen based higher
values of validity. While lower values of validity were disregarded. So,
valid items were used in this research were 55 items.and then, the datas
were analized by using the program of SPSS for windows version 12.00
with Spearman's rho correlation technique,. From the finding research was
than r table on significantion 0,05 is
reached r is -0,283 and it is ｨｩｧ･ｾ＠
0, 176., and the significantion was tested by t value= 2,0939 > ttable
value= 1,980 on significantion 0,05 (df=121 ). So the statistical decision is
HO is refused and 1-11 is accepted. So, it is conclused there are significant
negative correlation between self esteem with bullying behavior tendences
in adolescents.
