Sexual Abuse Domestic Violence Revealed through the Conflicts
conflict categorized into psychological abuse because the way Keith comes into Elizabeth‟s house and the gesture when he meets her has created an intimidation.
When Elizabeth as the victim is intimidated, it means that she psychologically is under the control of Keith so that he can do anything to her easily.
Keith is so angry when he knows that Elizabeth and Logan are still together, he storms to her house and shows the real him that he would like to have
Elizabeth as his own. He threatens Elizabeth that he will use his power as the deputy and also the family member of the judge in Hampton to make a case that
Logan is a stalker who stalks Elizabeth which will make Logan becomes a suspect, and that case also will force Ben to leave her because if Keith had
manipulated the case, it means that the relationship between Elizabeth and Logan is dangerous Sparks, 2008:367. The threat from Keith is categorized as
psychological abuse because he threatens Elizabeth to use his power as a deputy and also the family member of the judge in Hampton to make a case of Logan as a
dangerous man who has stalked Elizabeth and has relationship with her, which means that the relationship has put Ben into danger, and that case will make Keith
has full custody of Ben and he will take him away from her. The threat is considered as pscyhological abuse done by Keith to Elizabeth
because in the threat Keith is trying to take a part the people whom Elizabeth loved, Ben and Logan, and moreover she knew that if Keith does like what he has
said by taking Ben from her and forces Ben to live with him, it will harm Ben‟s
growth because Ben can not live with his father‟s manner on treating him. In
addit ion, although Keith‟s threat is not to harm physically to the people Elizabeth
loved but the threat has aimed to take the people away from her. The point of the psychological abuse in this situation is that the threat has made Elizabeth as the
victim feels unsecured to live with the people she loves. Elizabeth is unhapyy with the fact that Ben dislikes to spend the weekend
with his father, on the other side Elizabeth is actually does not want Ben to go either, but on the reality she cannot do anything other than tries to cheer him and
asks Ben to go to his fahter‟s house on weekend, because Keith has the custody
and if Elizabeth tries to keep Ben on weekend it will make the situation harder Sparks, 2008:146.
Keith‟s custody on Ben has made Elizabeth cannot do much on letting Ben free to spend the weekend. Keith who has joint custody has
intimidated Elizabeth because the custody has the strict rule on spending the time with the child, if in a situation Elizabeth tries to keep Ben on weekend, Keith who
has the custody will have Ben forced to live with him, in the other words the situation will be worse for Ben who dislikes to spend time with his father. This
kind of intimidation categorized into psychological abuse because in the situation Elizabeth cannot do anything more than just letting Ben to spend the weekend
with Keith. The situation of this conflict is that Keith has the custody on Ben which made
Ben must stay with him on the weekend. Meanwhile, Ben is unhappy when he has to spend the weekend with his father because his father always forces Ben to do or
to fulfill his expectation on Ben. Elizabeth is unhappy with the fact that Ben does not like to go to his father‟s house, and that makes her wants to keep Ben stay
with her on the weekend. On the contrary to her idea on keeping Ben on the
