The research method which is used is classroom action research. It is called CAR because the study focuses on a particular problem and a particular group of students in a certain classroom. According to Arikunto, classroom action research is an action research which is carried out the classroom aimed to improve learning practice quality. 2 Mills defines an action research as any systematic inquiry conducted by teacher researchers, principals, and school counselors in the teaching and learning environment to gather information about a how their particular school operates, b how teachers teach, and c how well their students learn. 3 The essential component of action research according to Kember as following: 4  Concerned with social practice;  Aimed towards improvement;  A cyclical process  Pursued by systematic enquiry;  A reflective process;  Participative;  Determined by the practitioner. Based on the definition above the implementation of classroom action research can improve the quality of education and teaching and learning process in school since it can diagnoses and solves the problem in teaching learning activity. The writer uses classroom action research model proposed by Kemmis and Taggart, which consists of four steps, namely, planning, acting, observing 2 Suharsimi Arikunto, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, Jakarta: Bumi Aksara, 2009, p. 58. 3 Geoffrey E. Mills, Action Research: A Guide for the Teacher Researcher. 2 nd ed, New Jersey: Merril Prentice Hall, 2003, p. 5. 4 David Kember, Action Learning and Action Research, London: Kogan Page Limited, 2000, pp. 23-24. 22 and reflecting. Improvement of the problem in this study is brought about by a series of cycles. The figure can be seen below: Figure 3.1: Action Research Spiral, Model from Kemmis Taggart 1988 5 The classroom action research design that applied in this study is a collaborative classroom action research. It means that the writer collaborates with the English teacher of SD AL-FATH CIRENDEU as an observer and collaborator. In carrying out the study, the writer’s role is as an English teacher who teaches vocabulary through Magic English video to the students, while the real English teacher’s role is as an observer who observes the action of the study while teaching-learning activities happen in the classroom. She also acts as a collaborator when helps the writer in designing lesson plan, carrying out the reflection, and determining the follow up of the study.
