4.2.4 The Lecturers’ Recommendations to Solve the Major Problems in Using
Internet for Academic Purposes
The recommendation of the lecturers for solving the slow Internet connection problem in the campus was increasing the speed of the Internet connection, as the
same as the students, but the lecturers stated that they could do nothing since it concerned with the campus’ policy. However, one of the lecturers mentioned that it
was planned and it was based on the grant, the grant program from the government. The recommendations for solving difficulty in deciding the valid and reliable
sources or materials from the lecturers were the students must know the criteria and the purpose in searching the sources or materials, the lecturers should provide several
valid and reliable links for the students, teach the students how to use Google search engine, give certain tips and tricks on how to find the valid sources such as do not use
Wikipedia as sources, check the institution, website, or university website about the author’s information, find the .edu website will be better. The lecturers also corrected
the recommendations from the students that not all the .com websites or blogs were invalid or unreliable. Some of the .com domains or blogs are valid and reliable.
Moreover, not all .pdf domains are valid or reliable. It depends on the content, author, accuracy, and currency.
Furthermore, to solve the problem of difficulty in confusing with too much information in the results of searching and difficulty in searching or do not know
exactly how to use search engine effectively, the lecturers recommended that the

students should know and the lecturers should teach how to search the sources skillfully using Google search engine and make use of the Google advanced search.
The students could learn it on-line or ask someone or lecturers to teach them. One of the lecturers stated that the search skill should be taught earlier to the students in any
class which uses Internet as resources since the Internet has been widely used recently, especially for academic purposes.

CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
This chapter presents conclusions of this study and suggestions for the English teachers or lecturers, learners, and other researchers.
5.1 Conclusions
This study aimed to identify three research problems which were stated in the first chapter i.e. to identify the perceptions of sixth semester ELESP students in the
academic year of 20092010 of Sanata Dharma University on the use of Internet in improving their academic achievements, to identify the major problems of the
students in using Internet for academic purposes, and to identify the recommendations of the students and lecturers to solve the major problems that
students faced in using Internet for academic purposes. Based on the results of the questionnaires and the interviews, the following
conclusions are drawn. It is proven that the sixth semester ELESP students in the academic year of 20092010 of Sanata Dharma University perceive the use of Internet
in improving academic achievements positively. The students always use Internet for academic purposes more or less two hours in a day. They perceive using Internet
for academic purposes is comfortable, interested, motivated, easy, quick, and
