SDG INDICATORS RELATED TO MONITORING SOCIAL INCLUSIVENESS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
APPENDIX 2: SDG INDICATORS RELATED TO MONITORING SOCIAL INCLUSIVENESS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
There has been an extensive consultative process undertaken to develop the proposal for indicators to monitor achievement of the SDGs and targets by 2030. This has been led by the international statistical community under the leadership of national statistical offices coordinated through the United Nations Statistical Commission. The indicators are grouped by tiers based on the existence of an established methodology: tier I are those for which an established methodology exists and data are widely available; tier II are those for which a methodology exists by data are not easily available; and tier III are those indicators for which no internationally agreed methodology exists yet.
A first step in this analysis was to identify the SDG indicators that are most relevant to the NPSTI policy. The indicator framework is still under development and is likely to evolve as attempts are made to produce the data needed. While it could be argued that implementing the NPSTI has an impact on all the goals under the SDG framework, the table below provides a summary of the goals, targets and indicators that are considered to be directly relevant to the NPSTI policy. It has been updated to reflect the set of indicators presented to the 47 th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in early March 2016.
