ABSTRACT
Evaluation of several Preservatives for Storage of Mexicana Grass Cuttings
(Euchlaena mexicana Schrad)

Maintaining the quality of Mexicana grass (Euchlaena mexicana Schrad)
cuttings a long its delivery need a preservative to avoid microorganisms activity and
physical damage. The aim of this research was to determine the appropriate
preservative for storage of Mexicana grass cuttings (Euchlaena mexicana Schrad).
Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was used in this research with 2 factors consist
of 4 kinds of preservatives as treatment (2% sugar, wax liquid, silica gel and engine
cooling (refrigerator) and 5 kinds of stronge length (3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 days), and 5
replication. Parameter were: general condition of cuttings, begining growth, the
cuttings growth, depreciation of weight and high of plant. The materials used were
the Mexicana grass cuttings (Euchlaena mexicana Schrad) as much as 625 pieces.
