Apel secara empiris digunakan untuk mengobati diare dimana perlu dibuktikan secara ilmiah. 
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa ekstrak apel dapat menurunkan 
kontraktilitas pada jaringan ileum marmut (Cavia porcellus) yang diinduksi histamin. Penelitian 
ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental murni, dengan menggunakan rancangan The Posttest 
Control Group Design. Sampel terdiri dari 5 ekor marmut dan dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. 
Kelompok I sebagai kontrol tanpa pemberian ekstrak apel, hanya histamin saja dan kelompok II, 
III dan IV dengan pemberian ekstrak apel dosis 0,032 %, 0,062 % dan 0,118 %. Parameter yang 
diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah besarnya penurunan kontraktilitas pada otot polos ileum 
marmut. Pada penelitian didapatkan hasil sebagai berikut yaitu kelompok II (EA 0,032%) dengan 
rerata besar penurunan kontraktilitas sebesar 19,00; kelompok III sebesar 29,16; kelompok IV 
sebesar 36,00. Hasil yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak apel dapat menyebabkan 
penurunan kontraktilitas pada otot polos ileum marmut secara bermakna (ANOVA, p = 0.000), 
dan terdapat hubungan yang kuat dan bermakna antara pemberian ekstrak apel dengan penurunan 

kontraktilitas (r=0,868 dan p=0,00). Pada kelompok II,III, dan IV terjadinya penurunan 
kontraktilitas di duga karena zat aktif yaitu quercetine. Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan 
bahwa ekstrak apel terbukti dapat menurunkan kontraktilitas otot polos ileum marmut. 

Empirically, apple can be used to cure diarrhea, but it is still needed to be proven scientifically. 
This study aims at proving whether or not apple extract (Malus domestica) could cause 
contraction decrease on the tissue of tendon of marmot’s ileum contraction (Cavia porcellus) 
inducted by histamin. This is a purely experimental research by means of the Posttest Control 
Group Design. The samples were 5 marmot’s which were then classified into four groups. The 
first group was treated as control group in which we did not give any apple extract but histamine 
only. On the other hand, the second, the third, and the fourth groups were treated at the same way 
by giving apple extract about 0,032 %, 0,062 % and 0,118 %. The parameter measured in this 
study was how much the contraction decrease of the tissue of tendon of marmot’s ileum. The 
research finding showed about the second group (EA 0,032%) with mean contraction decrease 
are 19,00; the third group are 29,16; the fourth group are 36,00. The research finding showed that 
the giving of apple extract could significantly minimize the contraction on the tendon of 
marmot’s ileum (ANOVA, p = 0,000), and there was strong and significant relationship between 
apple extract and the contraction decrease (r=0,868 and p=0,00). The second groups, the third 
groups, and the fourth groups are minimized contraction on tendon of marmot’s ileum was 
caused by the active effect on substances in apple extract, that was quercetin. In conclusion, it

was empirically proven that apple extract could minimize the contraction power of tendon of 
marmot’s ileum.
