Abstract
Ba ckg rou nd : Brewed gr een t ea cont ains ant ifungal subst ance such as polyphenol
which is consider ed can inhibit fungal growt h. The aim of t his research is t o
det erm ine ant ifungal effect of brewed green t ea ( Cam ellia sinensis L.) against
Candida albicans growt h I n Vit ro.
M e t ho ds : The research was perfor m ed as experim ent al laborat ory. The subj ect of
t his research w er e clinical sam ple of Candida albicans and t aken random ly. This
research used 7 t reat m ent groups, t hey w ere st erilized aquadest as negat ive
cont rol, brewed green t ea wit h concent rat ion of 60% , 70% , 80% , 90% and 100% ,
also fluconazole 25 µg as positive control. This research was repeated four times.
The plat e was incubat ed at t he t em perat ure of 37º C for 48 hours t hen inhibit ion
diam et er zone form ed was m easured. The dat a was analyzed by Linier Regr ession
t est t hen cont inued by Correlat ion t est on I BM St at ist ics for Windows version 20.
Re sult s : The diam et er of inhibit ion zone increased along wit h increasing
concent rat ions, because higher concent rat ion of brewed gr een t ea cont ained m ore
subst ances, and t he diam et er of concent rat ion of 100% group is alm ost t he sam e
wit h diam et er of posit ive cont rol group. The r esult s of st at ist ical analysis using
Linier Regression t est showed t hat t here are significant differences on seven of
t reat m ent groups ( p < 0,05) and t he Correlat ion t est show ed t hat t here ar e close
relat ion bet ween concent rat ion of brewed green t ea and t he diam et er of inhibit ion
zone.
