JOB DESCRIPTION
WORK PROGRAM

BACK GROUND
1. Water and water resources become more limited in the future, while the
need for various purposes has increased.
Water pollution is also increased so that the majority of the river water
unfit for drinking, including for agricultural irrigation. Thus, the existence of
the canter for water treatment is needed.

2. This Center is system which planned consist of three parts :
INTERNATIONAL CENTER, IDEAL POLYGON OF WATER TREATMENT
and EDUCATION PROGRAM, with the aim to serve water availability for
fulfill all water consumption.
3. Biological process is the basic of water treatment and water treatment
plant is the part of ecosystem. This center also can create innovation
water treatment technology in ideal polygon in different climatologically

condition ( high plain area, medium and coastal area). Water treatment
plant as model also can be used for training student from different
specialization of water management.

VISION
Realize the sustainable management of water
resources, ensuring eco-water treatment and
improving the economic value of water in the future

MISSION
1. To maintain good sustainability eco-water
2. To develop new technology of water treatment
and student training from another country
3. To increase economic value of water consumption
for domestic water, industry, and agriculture, and
create work possibility

OBJECTIVES OF CENTER WATER
TREATMENT
1. To find and create Ideal polygon for water

treatment which cover International standard, part
of ecosystem and model for students.
2. To develop new education program that based
new training technology.
3. To guide foreign students to have a scarce and
competitive specializations.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
Organization Structure cover two parts :
1. Research Program
2. Training program

RESEARCH PROGRAM
RESEARCH PROGRAM INCLUDE :
1. Research facilities
2. Research staff
 Research facilities is under Eco-physiology Laboratory,
Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana Univ.
 Research Staff consist of : Laboratory Staff and IT Staff
and others. Staffs of Research program cover scientific

staff who active works and have articles in international
Journals.

TRAINING PROGRAM
TRAINING PROGRAM CONSIST OF :
Staff who active work in new training technology
and take a part in research work. The Students
take a part also in training program.

WORK PROGRAM
1. Create in Bali: an International Program of Water
Management and Water Treatment
2. Create an ideal polygon for water treatment and for
student training (from design up to functional : all stages
process of water treatment)
3. Research in environmental situation in Bali and develop
system of monitoring
4. Develop water treatment systems for all Bali according
to climatic condition in different part of Bali
5. Create water consumption system when water treatment

plant is a part of ecosystem in Bali.

THE RESULTS OF NEGOTIATIONS ABOUT
THE PROJECT "LAGOON“ IN NUSA DUA, BALI

BY
FACULTY OF AGRICULRURE
UDAYANA UNIVERSITY TEAM

WHY LAGOON IS NEEDED

 Bali is small island (5,633 km2; 0.29% to Indonesia
region, population 3.5 billion).

 Economically, Bali mainly depend on 3 sectors:
tourism, agriculture, and small industry. Culture in Bali
perfectly base on agriculture and the culture as the
attractant tourism come to Bali.
 Nusa Dua is built as the center of tourism
development with the aim negative impact of tourism

doesn’t disturb of Balinese culture.

 This center (totally covered 30 ha) is managed by
Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC).

 Facilities at BTDC: 5 star hotel (4.000 rooms), Bali
International Convention Center/BICC, Bali Golf &
Country Club, Amphy Theatre, Central Park, Lagoon,
etc).
 Lagoon was built in 1976: total area 30 ha, capacity
10.000 m3/day, consist of 2 installation : sewerage
system and irrigation water system.
 Sewerage system: treated waste water from all
activities of hotels in Nusa Dua by using Waste
Stabilization Pond System (natural oxidation
process by microorganism under sunlight and
adding oxygen via aerator).

• Waste Stabilization Pond System : hotels  waste
water  under ground pipe  pond/Lagoon (17 ha) 

grease trap  oxidation  aeration  sludge drying
bed  sand filtration  recycle water for watering
landscape and golf and sludge for fertilizer.
• Lagoon has to be a new ecosystem for birds  there
are at least 77 species of birds from some continent come
to lagoon.
• Unfortunately the quality of recycle water is not
good (some indicators not acceptable)
