Ba ckg rou nd : Whit e dragon fruit ( Hylocereus undat us) cont ain s ant ioxidant

neph roprot ect ive. This st udy w as aim ed t o verify t he effect of whit e dragon fruit
ext ract and it s increasing doses t oward paracet am ol- induced dam age of renal cell of
m ouse ( Mus m usculus) .

M e t ho ds: This st udy w as a Random ized Cont rolled Trial in design. Sam ples were
t went y eight Swiss webst er t ype m ice divided int o 4 groups r andom ly, being seven
m ice in each group. Aquades were adm inist er ed t o m ice in cont rol group ( KK) and
t he fir st gr oup ( KP1 ) , w hile whit e dragon fr uit ext ract were adm inist ered t o t he
second gr oup ( KP2 ) and t he t hird group ( KP3 ) wit h t he dose of 70 m g/ 20 g BB
weight and 140 m l/ 20 g weight for 14 days, r espect ively. Paracet am ol were
adm inist er ed t o KP1 , KP2, KP3, wit h dose 5.07 m g/ 20 g weight on day 12 t h , 13 t h

and 14 t h . On day 15 t h , m ice were sacr ificed wit h neck dislocat ion. Renal cell slides
were m ade and st ained by HE. Renal hist ological is analysed and scored base on
quant ificat ion of renal hist ological dam age. Dat a were analyzed by One- Way ANOVA
t est and Post Hoc t est .
Re sult s: One- Way ANOVA showed t hat t here was a significant difference bet ween
groups. Result of LSD m et hod showed t hat t her e were significant of differences
bet w een KK- KP1 , KK- KP2 , KP1 - KP2 , KP1 - KP3 and KP2 - KP3 groups, respect ively; while
no significant different was found bet ween KK- KP3.
Co nclusio n: The adm inist r at ion of whit e dragon fruit ext ract m ight prevent t he
m ice renal cell dam age. The increasing doses of whit e dragon fruit ext ract induce

prot ect ion effect t owards t he renal cell dam age of m ice induced by par acet am ol
