The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization with its
Headquarters in Vienna is the international organization setting up the global verification system foreseen
under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is the Treaty banning any
nuclear-weapon-test explosion or any other nuclear explosion. The Treaty provides for a global verification
regime, including a network of 321 stations worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre
and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.
We seek to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the following position in the Commission’s Provisional
Technical Secretariat:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Head, Global Communications Infrastructure (GCI) and Network Operations
Unit, Operations Section, International Data Centre Division (IDC), to:

Monitor and evaluate work progress of the GCI and prepare documents and reports related thereto;

Monitor outages, perform first level trouble shooting and escalate (when needed) the incident to the next
level;
Record network performance information and prepare related network performance reports;
Coordinate network interface requirements with States Signatories and monitor network usage by States
Signatories;
Perform other duties as assigned which may include being on-call.

Qualifications:

University degree in telecommunications or a related field.
At least two years relevant working experience in satellite communications technology and
telecommunications implementation. Experience in computer networking is highly desirable.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Working knowledge of one of the
other official languages of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission is an asset.

Remuneration/Contract:
CTBTO offers an attractive remuneration package with competitive pay and benefits. The level of pay for
internationally recruited staff is set within scales comparable to United Nations salaries. The indicative annual
net base for this particular post includes a starting tax free salary of US$ 46,730 (single rate) and US$ 49,821
(dependency rate), plus a variable Post Adjustment which stands at 59,60% for Vienna, Austria (at the time of
publication). The post adjustment is reviewed from time in line with the provisions that apply to staff in other
comparable International Organizations.
Additional benefits attached to the post include, where applicable, dependency allowance, education grant,
rental subsidy, six weeks annual leave and home leave travel every two years. The salary offered is subject to

deductions of contributions to the CTBTO Provident Fund and Health Insurance Scheme.

Initial contract for a fixed term of three years.
