SAPI POTONG BERDASARKAN JENIS KELAMIN
DI KECAMATAN RANCAH KABUPATEN CIAMIS

ABSTRAK
Penilaian konformasi tubuh ternak dilakukan dengan 3 cara pengukuran
yaitu cara penilaian 1) Skor kerangka tubuh, 2) Tipe perototan, dan 3) Struktur
kaki. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui konformasi tubuh pada sapi potong
yang dipelihara peternak di Kecamatan Rancah Kabupaten Ciamis. Metode yang
digunakan adalah sensus dan analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik
deskripstif. Peubah yang diamati meliputi struktur rangka tubuh, tipe perototan,
dan struktur kaki. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa hampir semua
sapi potong yang dipelihara di Kecamatan Rancah memiliki struktur rangka tubuh
sedang (frame 3: slighty smaller than average) kecuali sapi Rancah betina yang
termasuk ke dalam struktur rangka tubuh kecil (frame 1: very small frame). Tipe
Perototan termasuk ke dalam tipe sapi yang perototannya agak tebal (Skor 2)
kecuali Simental PO jantan termasuk ke dalam perototan paling tebal (Skor 1) dan
Sapi Rancah jantan, PO betina dan Rancah betina termasuk ke dalam tipe
perototan agak tipis (Skor 3). Struktur kaki sapi jantan memiliki karakteristik
struktur kaki yang lurus atau correct kecuali sapi PO jantan. Semua sapi potong
betina memiliki struktur kaki berbentuk X (cow hocked). Keragaman rangka
tubuh, tipe perototan dan struktur kaki pada semua sapi potong sangat beragam.
Skor kerangka tubuh yang baik adalah sapi Simental PO jantan dan betina, PO
jantan dan betina, Limousin PO jantan, dan Rancah jantan. Tipe perototan yang
baik adalah sapi Simental PO. Struktur kaki yang baik adalah sapi Simental PO
jantan, Limousin PO jantan dan Rancah jantan.

ABSTRACT
There are 3 ways to assess the livestock body conformation is frame score,
muscle type, and hind leg and feet assess. This research aim to know about the
body conformation in beef cattle from Rancah sub-district in Ciamis. The method
in this research is analysis statistic data and sensus. The variable that analyzed is
frame score, muscle type, and hind leg and feet. The research conclude that almost
all beef cattle in Rancah have frame 3: slightly smaller than average, except
Rancah cow which is having frame 1: very small frame. The muscle type
comprise having score 2 (a bit thick) except Simmental PO bull comprise the most
thick muscle (score 1) and Rancah bulls, PO cows, and Rancah cows have score 3
(thin muscle). Hind leg and feet is straight or correct except PO bulls. For all beef
cows have X structure (cow hocked). The diversity of frame score, muscle type,
and hind leg and feet is very variety. The best frame score is Simmental PO bulls
and cows, PO bulls and cows, Limousin PO bulls, and Rancah bulls. The best
muscle type is Simmental PO cattle, while the best hind leg and feet is Simmental
PO bulls,Limousin PO bulls, and Rancah bulls.
