Perbedaan Work-Family Conflict Ditinjau dari Locus of Control Internal
dan Locus of Control Eksternal Pada Karyawan

ABSTRAK

Work-family conflict merupakan konflik antar peran di pekerjaan dan peran di
keluarga yang saling bertentangan satu sama lain. Salah satu penyebab workfamily conflict adalah locus of control yang merupakan salah satu karakteristik
kepribadian. Locus of control dimiliki oleh setiap individu dan dapat dibedakan
menjadi locus of control internal dan locus of control eksternal. Tujuan dari
penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat perbedaan work-family conflict ditinjau dari
locus of control internal dan locus of control eksternal pada karyawan.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat komparatif. Metode yang
digunakan yaitu metode penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan 76
karyawan laki-laki PT. PLN (Persero) UNIT INDUK PEMBANGUNAN II yang
sudah menikah, dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive
sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan 2 alat ukur, yaitu skala workfamily conflict yang dibuat berdasarkan indikator work-family conflict yang
dikemukakan oleh Greenhaus & Beutell (1985) yaitu time-based conflict, strainbased conflict, dan behavior-based conflict, dan skala IPC (Internality Powerfulother Chance) yang dikembangkan oleh Levenson (1972) berdasarkan indikator
locus of control yaitu internality, powerful-other dan chance. Kemudian data
dianalisa dengan menggunakan teknik independent-sample t test pada tingkat

kepercayaan 95% dan tingkat kesalahan (α) 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan
bahwa ada perbedaan work-family conflict yang signifikan antara karyawan yang
memiliki locus of control internal dan karyawan yang memiliki locus of control
eksternal, dengan nilai p = 0,000.

The Differences of Work-Family Conflict in Terms of Internal Locus of

ABSTRACT

Work-family conflict is a conflict between roles in work and family that are
conflicting with each other. One cause of work-family conflict is the locus of
control, which is one of personality characteristics. Locus of control possessed by

each individual and can be divided into internal locus of control and external
locus of control. The aim of this study is to see the difference of work-family
conflict in terms of internal locus of control and external locus of control on
employee.
This study is the comparative research. The method that is used is the
quantitative research method. This study involved 76 married male employees of
PT. PLN (Persero) UNIT INDUK PEMBANGUNAN II, using a sampling
technique that is purposive sampling. Data are collected using two instruments,
the work-family conflict scale made based on indicators of work-family conflict
proposed by Greenhaus & Beutell (1985) that is time-based conflict, strain-based
conflict, and behavior-based conflict, and IPC (Internality Powerful-other Chance)
scale developed by Levenson (1972) based on indicators of locus of control that is
internality, powerful-other and chance. Then analyzed with independent-sample t
test in the level of reliability 95% and the level of the mistake (α) 0,05. The result
shows that there is difference significantly of work-family conflict between
employee with internal locus of control and employee with external locus of
control, and the value p = 0,000.
