About 20 years ago, the Japanese people have not been through the trash. In the
1960s and 1970s, the Japanese are still low even concern on the dumping of waste
and waste management. Moments that, Japan has risen to industrialized countries,
so that the environment does not get too they care about. The biggest example of
indifference that is the case of Minamata pollution, when Chisso Minamata mercury
dumping waste into the sea and contaminate fish and other sea products. The
fishermen and the local people who eat fish from the sea around Minamata become
victims. In 2001, there were more than 1,700 deaths from the tragedy.
In the 60s and 70s, cases of pollution, environmental pollution, poisoning, being part
of the growth of Japanese industry. In Tokyo alone, sewage and household garbage
when it becomes a big problem for the environment and disrupt the lives of the
citizens of Tokyo.

It was only in the mid-1970s began to rise movement of people concerned about the
environment or "chonaikai" in various cities in Japan. Raise community awareness of
citizens about how to dispose of garbage, and segregating the waste, so as to
facilitate processing. Their movement adheres to the theme of the 3Rs of Reduce,
Reuse, and Recycle. Reducing waste disposal, Reuse, and Recycling.
The movement continues to grow, supported by all walks of life in Japan. Although
the environmental movement in society is developing rapidly, the Japanese
government has not had legislation governing waste management. For the current
government, environmental affairs has not been a priority.
FP Corporation is one of the companies that support the development of 3Rs. As is
known, FP recycling of containers and packaging both tray to tray or bottle to tray.
In 2006, FP even awarded 1st minister of the environment award for promotion of the
3Rs Practice in Containers and Packaging (product category). The award was
presented to the FPCO method of recycling system on the ground that it strikes a
balance between economic efficiency and recyclability, is designed to secure
recovered a raw materials accounting for a 20% share of the domestic market in

partnership with consumers and supermarkets, and is excellent in terms of
scalability, originality, effectiveness, economic efficiency and usability.
For items that can be recycled, it is suggested that the townspeople hold on "3Rs", ie

"Reduce" (reduce, do not buy things that are not necessary), "Reuse" (used again,
try to utilize as much as possible by using repeatedly. For example, do not waste
bottle, use many times) "Recycle" (recycle. Sort and returned for recycling).

Trash (by type) must be disposed of at the appointed place, at 8 am, on the
appointed day. For the Shinjuku neighborhood of Tokyo, garbage is divided into
categories: trash flammable (kitchen waste, paper small, small pieces of wood,
diapers, cigarette butts, etc.), Waste that is not combustible (metal goods, rubber,
leather, plastic bags, small gas cylinders for small gas stove is placed on a table,
etc.), and large trash (not including air-conditioning, TV, refrigerator, freezer, washing
machines and computers). For large bins, the agreement must be made in advance,
while the garbage in the form of electronic tools are there separate procedures
related to equipment company concerned or the nearest dealer.
FP Corporation is not able to recycle used trays and PET bottles on its own. We
receive cooperation from our consumers and perform recycling with everyone’s
participation.
After being washed and dried, used trays are collected in collection boxes placed at
supermarkets and other locations, and then delivery trucks take them back to FP
Corporation where they are recycled.
By four entities participating together, a large volume of used trays and PET bottles

is recycled smoothly, and waste is kept to a minimum.

As a member of society FP Corporation are working on proactive communication
with consumers, such as providing factory tours, to contribute to communities and
educate them about "Tray to Tray (TM)" FPCO method recycling.
They are also proactively conducting on-site service to provide lectures on recycling
at elementary schools and places of request.
