Ba ckg rou nd : Today, consum ing paracet am ol as an analgesic ant ipyret ic drugs has
increased. Paracet am ol which used in inappropriat e dose has bad effect t o our body,
such as nefrot oxic. Basil leaf ext ract has ant ioxidant as a prot ect ion of free radicals
and reducing NAPQI w hich produced by paracet am ol. The obj ect ives of t his research
are t o know t he nefroprot ect or effect and t his resear ch w ill shown t he m ult ilevel
dose of basil leaf ext ract as a nefroprot ect or in t he renal cell dam age induced by
paraset am ol.

M e t ho ds: This was experim ent al laborat ory wit h t he post t est only cont rolled group
design. Sam ple group consist ed of m ale m ice Sw iss Webst er, 2- 3 m ont h, + 20 g.
Sam ples divided int o 4 groups, each gr oup has seven m ice. Mice for cont rol group
( K) and t he fir st t reat m ent group ( P1) were given aquades for 14 days. The second
t reat m ent group ( P2) will be given basil leaf ext ract dose I for 14 days. The t hir d
t reat m ent group ( P3) will be given basil leaf ext ract dose I I for 14 days.
Paracet am ol will be given t o P1, P2, and P3, wit h dose 0,1 m l/ 20 gr weight of m ice
on t he day 12, 13, and 14. Finally on day 15 t h , m ice are sacr ificed wit h neck
dislocat ion t hen t he renal of m ice was m ade preparat ions w it h paraffin blocks
m et hods and Hem at oxillin Eosin st aining. Renal cell dam age observed and count ed
a m ount of scored on r enal hist ological karyopyknosis, karyorrhexis, and karyolysis.
Data are analized by One-Way ANOVA test (α= 0,05) and continued by Post Hoc
Multiple Comparisons test (LSD) (α = 0,05).
Re sult s: Result of One- Way ANOVA show n t hat t here was a significant of degree
bet w een 4 groups. Result of LSD m et hod t here was a significant of degree bet w een
K- P1, K- P2, P1- P2, and P1- P3 groups; and also it wasn’t a significant of degree
bet w een K- P3 and P2- P3.
Co nclusio ns: The basil leaf ext ract s was able t o decrease t he renal cell dam aging

of m ice and t he increase of basil leaf ext ract s dose followed by t he increase of
prot ect ion effect t o t he renal cell dam aging of m ice which is induced by
paracet am ol.
