PERFORMANCE CARBON AND CERAMIC WATER FILTER BASED ON MICROBIOLOGICAL QUALITY.

ABSTRACT
Drinking water is the most important essential for life to consume for
prevent from illness that can be transmited from water borne diseases. Today,
there are a lots of way to sustain a clean drinking water using housing water filter
such as carbon filter, ceramic filter, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet, and several more
which is easy filter to be use everyday that fullfilled requirement of safe and
clean drnking water which is no odor, no color, no chemical, and no bacteria.
The method of this research is descriptive experiment laboratory which is
conducted in Larboratory Kesehatan Masyarakat Bandung. Carbon filter and
ceramic filter were used and 15 samples each taken from 5 samples from Well
Water, 5 samples from Tap Water, 5 samples from Refill water. The samples test
for Most Probable Number (MPN) index based on Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan
(PerMenKes) regulations.
Carbon filter produced results all samples are negative ( 0 MPN index).
Ceramic filter, samples from tap water and refill water is negative ( 0 MPN index)
but sample from well water produced positive results (with 240 MPN index).
The result from this research, according to PerMenKes regulation water
filtered using carbon filter are qualified as a drinking water.Water from tap water
and refill water filtered using ceramic filter also qulified to be drink but water
from well water not qualified to be drink.
