ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh berbagai masalah yang timbul dalam kaitan
dengan kompetensi literasi informasi peneliti, dalam hal ini BPPKI Bandung,
maka sangat penting untuk mengetahui literasi informasi dalam menunjang
kompetensi profesionalismenya sebagai peneliti. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah
untuk mengetahui kompetensi literasi informasi peneliti di BPPKI Bandung.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data
dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan. Informan kunci
dalam penelitian ini adalah para peneliti di BPPKI Bandung. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan (knowledge) peneliti BPPKI Bandung
mengenai literasi informasi sudah cukup baik. Namun masih ada peneliti yang
belum mengetahui penggunaan perpustakaan sebagai sumber informasi.
Keterampilan (skill) peneliti BPPKI Bandung mengenai literasi informasi sudah
cukup baik. Namun masih ada peneliti yang belum melakukan pencarian

informasi dengan efisien dan efektif, karna belum menyusun strategi penelusuran
(searching strategy) dan menerapkannya pada alat pencari yang dipilih. Peneliti
BPPKI Bandung sudah memiliki sikap kerja (attitude) yang berkaitan dengan
literasi informasi. Namun masih ada peneliti yang menggunakan informasi dengan
tidak bertanggung jawab.

RESEARCHERS’ COMPETENCES IN INFORMATION LITERACY:
A Case Study at the BPPKI (Research and Development Agency for
Communication and Informatics) Bandung

ABSTRACT

The study was triggered by a variety of issues surrounding the researchers’

competences in information literacy, especially at BPPKI Bandung. It is of great
importance to know the information literacy competences as a backbone for the
researcher’s professional competencies. Using a case study as its method, this
study aims at determining the competences in information literacy among
researchers at BPPKI Bandung. Data were collected through some techniques
including observation, interviews, and bibliographical studies. The key informants
were the researchers at BPPKI Bandung. The results showed that BPPKI
Bandung researchers’ knowledge on information literacy had been fairly good.
Nevertheless, there were researchers who did not recognize libraries as
information sources. In addition, the BPPKI Bandung researchers’ skill in
information literacy had also been quite good although there were still
researchers who had not made the information search effective and efficient as
they did not formulate any proper searching strategies and apply them in a
particular search tool. Finally, the BPPKI Bandung researchers had already
professed the attitude related to information literacy while there were still some
who used the information irresponsibly.
