Dalam era globalisai seperti sekarang ini, diperlukan pendidikan yang membina peserta didik,
sehingga memilih potensi yang baik dan dapat mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi. Oleh
karena itu peran bimbingan dan konseling sangat dibutuhkan oleh siswa. Sehingga potensipotensi yang ada dalam diri mereka dapat berkembang. Permasalahan yang dihadapi siswa di
sekolah dan di rumah seringkali tidak dapat dihindari, walaupun dengan pengajaran yang baik.
Dalam rangka optimalisasi siswa itulah peran layanan bimbingan dan konseling diperlukan
disetiap lembaga pendidikan.
Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran konselor sekolah yang
terealisasi pada bentuk-bentuk pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling. Untuk mengetahui sejauh
mana peran bimbingan dan konseling untuk siswa. Dan yang terakhir untuk mengetahui upayaupaya yang dilakukan oleh konselor sekolah dalam penyelenggaraan layanan bimbingan dan
konseling.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriftif, karena metode ini memerlukan kajian
terhadap situasi yang bersifat alami tanpa campur tangan peneliti. Teknik pengumpulan data
yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di
SMP N 2 Prigen pada tanggal 25 Juli 2005 sampai 19 Desember 2005.
Dalam temuan di lapangan menggambarkan bahwa peran konselor sekolah dalam
penyelenggaraan layanan bimbingan dan konseling belum optimal. Kondisi ini sangat
dipengaruhi oleh beberapa hal, yaitu luasnya tanggung jawab konselor sekolah, perbandingan
jumlah konselor sekolah yang tidak seimbang dengan jumlah siswa, sarana dan prasarana yang
belum memadai. Selain itu kesan yang ditimbulkan konselor sekolah pada pelaksanaan perannya
tidak kondusif. Sehingga siswa memiliki anggapan yang negatif terhadap keberadaan peran
layanan bimbingan dan konseling di sekolah.
Abstract
In globalisai era, as now, required that foster education students, so choose a good potential and
could overcome the problems faced. Therefore, the role of guidance and counseling is needed by
the students. So there is the potential within themselves to grow. The problem faced by students
at school and at home often can not be avoided, even with good teaching. In order to optimize
the students that the role of guidance and counseling services needed at each educational
institution.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of school counselors who realized in the forms
of guidance and counseling services. To determine the role of guidance and counseling for
students. And the last to know the efforts made by school counselors in the implementation of
guidance and counseling services.
This research is a descriptive qualitative research, because this method requires a review of the
situation in nature without the intervention of the researcher. Data collection techniques used in
this research is interview and observation. This research was carried out in SMP N 2 Prigen on
July 25, 2005 until December 19, 2005.
The findings in the field illustrate that the school counselor's role in the implementation of
guidance and counseling services is not optimal. This condition is greatly influenced by several
things, namely the extent of responsibilities of school counselors, the ratio of the number of
school counselors are not balanced with the number of students, facilities and infrastructure are
inadequate. In addition, school counselors impression generated is not conducive to the
implementation of its role. So that the student has a negative presumption against the existence
of the role of guidance and counseling services in schools.
