Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran. Judul Penelitian yang diambil adalah
“Hubungan Kegiatan Press Gathering Kementerian Luar Negeri dengan sikap
Wartawan terhadap Lembaga.” Subjudulnya adalah Studi Korelasional mengenai
Kegiatan Media Relations di Kemlu RI dengan Sikap Wartawan terhadap
Lembaga. Dosen pembimbing utama dalam penelitian ini adalah Dr. Suwandi
Sumartias, M.Si. dan dosen pembimbing pendamping Dra. Susie Perbawasari M.Si.
Berpijak pada teori ELM (Elaboration Likelihood Model), penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kegiatan Press Gathering dengan sikap
wartawan terhadap Kemlu.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan
analisis korelasional yaitu metode untuk mencari hubungan antara dua variabel atau
lebih. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah wartawan yang biasa menghadiri
kegiatan Press Gathering dan meliput kegiatan-kegiatan Kemlu. Jumlah wartawan
yang terdaftar adalah 100 orang yang mewakili 31 media massa (cetak, elektronik

maupun nasional). Kemudian diperoleh 79 sampel melalui teknik sampling acak
sederhana.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang cukup
berarti antara isi dan cara penyampaian pesan oleh Kemlu dalam Press Gathering
dengan sikap wartawan terhadap Kemlu, serta terdapat hubungan yang cukup
berarti antara figur komunikator dalam kegiatan Press Gathering dengan sikap
wartawan terhadap Kemlu.
Adapun kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang cukup
berarti antara kegiatan Press Gathering Kementerian Luar Negeri dengan sikap
wartawan,yang terdiri dari aspek kognitif dan afektif serta konatif terhadap
Lembaga.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disarankan sebaiknya pihak Kemlu terus
mempertahankan dan meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas kegiatan Press
Gathering, agar makin memudahkan wartawan dalam memahami informasi yang
disampaikan. Pada akhirnya ini diharapkan makin mempengaruhi wartawan
bersikap dan berperilaku sesuai dengan harapan Kemlu, mendukung kebijakan dan
kegiatan-kegiatan Kemlu, dan lebih memancing ketertarikan wartawan yang
mempunyai keinginan untuk hadir pada kegiatan Press Gathering selanjutnya.

ABSTRACT

Communication University of Padjadjaran. The title of the research is "Connection
between Foreign Ministry Press Gathering and Attitude of Journalists towards the
Institution.”Subtitle of the research is “Correlational Study on the Activities of
Media Relations at the Foreign Ministry of Indonesia with the Attitude of
Journalists towards the Institution.”This research is developed and completed
under the guidance of Dr. Suwandi Sumartias, M.Sc. as the Primary Counsellor,and
Dra. Susie Perbawasari M.Sc. as the Second Counselor.
The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the

Foreign Ministry Press Gathering and the attitude of journalists, using the theory of
the Elaboration Likelihood Model.
The method used in this research was a quantitative approach with a
correlational analysis,which was, a method to find a correlation between two or
more variables. The population in this study were the journalists who regularly
attend the Press Gatherings and report activities of the Foreign Ministry. The
number of journalists registered were 100 people, representing 31 mass
media.Using simple random sampling technique, the research picked up 79
samples.
The results indicated that there was a significant correlation between the
content of the messages of, and the way the messages were shaped in,the Foreign
Ministry Press Gathering andthe attitude of the journalists towards the institution.
There was also a significant correlation between posture of the communicatorin the
Foreign Ministry Press Gathering and the attitude of the journalists towards the
institution.
The conclusion of theresearch was that there was a significant correlation
between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Gathering and the
journalists’attitudetowards the Institution,which consisted cognitive, affective and
conative aspects.
Based on the conclusion above, the concluding part of the thesis

recommended that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to improve and maintain
the quality of their Press Gathering, in order to facilitate journalists in
understanding further the information supplied by the ministry; and secondly, they
would behave and act in accordance with the expectations of the Foreign Ministry,
as well as support the policies and activities of institution; and it would raise the
journalist’s interests and inclination to attend the next and future Press Gatherings.
