( BMI ) and also t o est im at e Basal Met abolic Rat e ( BMR) . How ever, height
m easurem ent in som eone w ho cannot st and properly like t he elderly or low er
ekst r em it y abnorm alit y m ay becom e difficult . Therefore, est im at ing height wit h

Ob j ect ive s: This research aim ed t o know arm span t o height rat io dat a in st udent s
from Medicine Facult y 2008 of Sebelas Maret Universit y and t he differences of arm
span t o height rat io bet ween m ale and fem ale.

M e t ho ds: This resear ch w as an analyt ical observat ional research wit h cross
sect ional approach. The sam ple dat a collect ed using purposive sam pling m et hod
wit hin inclusion and exclusion crit eria. From t he populat ion, 60 sam ples ( 30 m ales
and 30 fem ales) chose by sim ple random sam pling m et hod, t hen m easur ed t heir
height and ar m span. Height m easured in anat om ical posit ion using m icrot oise
st at ur m et er. Arm span m easured using ruler t ape from t he longest finger in right
hand t o t he longest finger in left hand. All dat a analyzed using norm alit y t est
Kolm ogorov- Sm irnov and follow ed wit h t - independent t est if t he dist r ibut ion dat a
showed norm al.
