ABSTRAK
ANALISIS FUNGSI SOSIAL LEMBAGA AGAMA DALAM
MENINGKATKAN PENDIDIKAN ANAK PADA
KELUARGA EKONOMI LEMAH
(Studi Deskriptif pada Gereja Bethel Indonesia di Medan)

Kemiskinan menurut Departemen Sosial (dalam Suharto, 2004) adalah
“suatu keadaan serba kekurangan yang di alami oleh seseorang atau sekelompok
orang di luar keinginan yang bersangkutan sebagai kejadian yang tidak dapat
dihindari dengan kekuatan atau kemampuan yang dimilikinya. peran institusi
sosial diantaranya diyakini mempunyai program pemberdayaan untuk
mengentaskan kemiskinan adalah gereja. Gereja adalah salah satu institusi agama
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah analisis fungsi sosial lembaga agama dalam
meningkatkan pendidikan anak pada keluarga ekonomi lemah (Studi Deskriptif
pada Gereja Bethel Indonesia di Medan. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh Staf
Departemen Diakonia dan pengurus Rumah Singgah Pemulihan Anak Indonesia
Gereja Bethel Indonesia di Medan). Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian
deskriptif
Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Fungsi Edukatif oleh Lembaga Gereja
,Fungsi Penyelamat oleh Lembaga Gereja, Fungsi Pengawasan Sosial (Social
Control) oleh Lembaga Gereja, Fungsi Memupuk Persaudaraan oleh Lembaga

Gereja. Disarankan Perlu mempertahankan fungsi sosial gereja bagi kelompok
masyarakat secara umum Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa gereja
sebagai lermbaga sosial sangat berfungsi dalam sangat berfungsi dalam
meningkatkan pendidikan anak pada
keluarga ekonomi lemah. Perlu
mengembangakan strategi dan inovasi yang diperlukan untuk meningkatkan
fungsi sosial gereja.

ABSTRACT
SOCIAL FUNCTION ANALYSIS OF RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN
IMPROVING EDUCATION IN CHILDREN
WEAK ECONOMY FAMILY
( Descriptive Study on Indonesian Bethel Church in Medan)

Poverty according to the Ministry of Social Affairs ( under Suharto ,
2004) is " a state of deprivation experienced by a person or group of people

outside the desire concerned as events that can not be avoided by the strength or
ability. the role of social institutions of which is believed to have empowerment
programs to alleviate poverty is the church . The Church is one of the religious
institutions.
The purpose of this research is the analysis of the social function of
religious institutions in improving the education of children in low-income
families ( Descriptive Study on Indonesian Bethel Church in Medan.Populasi
study were all Diakonia Department staff and administrators Shelter Children
Relief Indonesia Indonesian Bethel Church in field). This type of research is a
descriptive study
The results of this study by the Institute of Educational Functions of the
Church , Church Functions Rescue by Institutions , Social Monitoring Function (
Social Control ) by the Institute of Church , Function Nurturing Brotherhood by
Church Institute . Suggested Need to maintain the social function of the church for
the community in general conclusion from this study is that the church as a social
lermbaga very functional in a very functional in improving the education of
children in low-income families . Need to develop the strategy and innovation
needed to improve the social function of the church .
