Abstract: This research aims at investigating the effects of English learning in

  Elementary School on learners’ English Language Development in Junior High School.

  The investigation can be done by measuring learners’ English Language Development focuses on vocabulary, grammar and reading skills in Junior High School. The used methods were questionnaire, test and documentation. Five questions of questionnaire and thirty questions of test were asked to the seventh grade learners of SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang in academic year 2017/2018. 39 of 124 learners were taken used purposive sampling technique. This research classified as retrospective ex-post facto research used qualitative and quantitative method to analyze the data. Qualitative method was used to analyze the questionnaire data. Quantitative method was used to calculate the test result. The data showed that there is no significant effects of English learning in Elementary School on learners’ English Language Development in Junior High School in the terms of vocabulary, grammar and reading skills.

   Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mencari tahu efek dari

  pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar terhadap perkembangan bahasa Inggris siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Penyelidikan tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan mengukur perkembangan bahasa Inggris siswa, khususnya pada kemampuan kosa kata, tata bahasa, dan membaca di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Metode yang digunakan adalah angket, tes, dan dokumentasi. Siswa kelas tujuh SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang tahun akademik 2017/2018 diberikan 5 pertanyaan pada angket dan 30 pertanyaan pada tes. Diambil 39 sampel dari 124 siswa menggunakan teknik pengambilan pilihan. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian peninjauan ke belakang yang menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Metode kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis data angket. Metode kuantitatif digunakan untuk menghitung hasil tes. Data menunjukan bahwa tidak ada efek signifikan pada pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar terhadap perkembangan bahasa Inggris siswa khususnya pada kemampuan kosa kata, tata bahasa, dan membaca di Sekolah Menengah Pertama.
