ABSTRACT

ZULFRIDEN SIREGAR: Distribution Vascular Bundles and Moisture Content
on Oil Palm Trunk. Supervised by RUDI HARTONO and ERWINSYAH.
Oil palm trunk is the raw material testing vascular bundles and moisture
content. The purpose of this study were to define the distribution pattern of
vascular bundles and to define the distribution of moisture content at vertical and
horizontal direction along the trunk Two palm trunks were cut into several section
at 0,5 m, 2 m, 3,5 m, 5 m, 6,5 m, 8 m, and 9,5 m, and then cut into samples for
determining the distribution of vascular bundles and moisture content vertically
and horizontally.The result showed that vertically, the distribution of vascular
bundles were decreased along the trunk height and it also decreased from outer to
inner part of the trunk horizontally. Vertically, the distribution of moisture content
were increased along the trunk height and it also increased from aouter to inner
part of the trunk horizontally.Distribution vascular bundles and moisture content
of oil palm trunk are different for both vertically as well as horizontally of the
trunk height

ABSTRAK

ZULFRIDEN SIREGAR: Pola Penyebaran Vascular Bundles Terhadap Kadar
Air. Dibawah bimbingan RUDI HARTONO dan ERWINSYAH.
Batang kelapa sawit merupakan bahan baku pengujian vascular bundles
dan kadar air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola penyebaran vascular
bundles secara vertikal dan horizontal dan mengetahui distribusi kadar air secara
vertikal dan horizontal. Batang kelapa sawit ditebang sebanyak dua batang pada
ketinggian 0,5m, 2m, 3,5m, 5m, 6,5m, 8m, dan 9,5m, kemudian diamati jumlah
vascular bundles dan kadar air baik secara vertikal maupun horizontal. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwasecara vertikal, semakin tinggi batang maka jumlah
vascular bundles yang ditemukan semakin berkurang, begitu juga secara
horizontal, jumlah vascular bundles semakin berkurang dari bagian kulit/luar
menuju pusat batang. Secara vertikal, semakin tinggi batang maka distribusi kadar
air semakin besar, begitu juga secara horizontal, distribusi kadar air dari bagian
kulit/luar menuju pusat semakin besar. Distribusi vascular bundles dan kadar air
pada batang kelapa sawit berbeda secara vertikal dan horizontal
