ANALISIS PERSPEKTIF PENGEMBANGAN KAWASAN WISATA
KOTA MEDAN, PENERAPAN TWIN CITY DENGAN
MALIOBORO,KOTA YOGYAKARTA
ABSTRAK
Untuk memajukan sektor pariwisata di kota Medan, perlu dilakukan upaya
pengembangan kawasan wisata yang terarah dan didukung oleh segenap lapisan
masyarakat. Salah satunya adalah dengan menerapkan twin city dengan kota
wisata Yogyakarta. Untuk itu dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk
menganalisis perspektif pengembangan kawasan wisata kota Medan melalui
penerapan twin city dengan Malioboro, kota Yogyakarta. Dimana permasalahan
yang di amati dalam penelitian ini adalah prospek pengembangan kawasan wisata
kota Medan melalui penerapan twin city dengan Malioboro, kota Yogyakarta,
persepsi nama “Maimun” menurut para stakeholder dan penilaian ekonomis para
stakeholder mengenai kawasan wisata Maimun. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan
menyebarkan kuesioner kepada masyarakat, swasta dan pemerintah, kemudian di
analisis menggunakan pengujian statistic nonparametric dengan menggunakan
SPSS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan
mengenai pendapat para stakeholder sebelum dan sesudah adanya wacana
pembangunan kawasan wisata seperti Malioboro di kota Medan, tidak terdapat
perbedaan yang signifikan antara para stakeholder mengenai nama “Maimun”
sebagai identitas kawasan wisata kota Medan dan para stakeholder memiliki
penilaian ekonomis yang sama mengenai rencana pengembangan kawasan
wisata Maimun.

THE ANALYSIS OF THE PERSPECTIVE OF MEDAN TOURISM AREA
DEVELOPMENT AND THE APPLICATION OF TWIN CITY
PROGRAM WITH MALIOBORO, YOGYAKARTA
ABSTRACT
To promote tourism sector in the City of Medan, a targeted tourism area
development which is supported by all levels of society is need to be done. One of
the activities is to apply a twin city program with the tourist city of Yogyakarta.
For this purpose, this study was conducted to analyze the perspective of Medan
tourism area development through the application a twin city program with
Malioboro, the City of Yogyakarta. The problems discussed in this study was the
prospect of Medan tourism area development through the application a twin city
program with Malioboro, the City of Yogyakarta, the perception of the name of
“Maimun” according to the stakeholders, and the economic evaluation made by
the stakeholders about the Maimun tourism area. The data for this study were
obtained through questionnaires distributed to community, private institutions
and government agencies. The data obtained were analyzed through
nonparametric statistic test using SPSS program. The result of this study showed
that there was a significant difference between the opinions of the stakeholders
before and after the discourse of Malioboro-like tourism area development in the
City of Medan, there was no significant difference among the stakeholders about
the name of “Maimun” as the identity for Medan tourism area, and the
stakeholders had the same economic evaluation about the plan to develop
Maimun tourism area.
