Dear Sherly
How are you? It has been a long time since we met. I hope you are all right.
Well, I spent my holiday in Jakarta last month. I went there with my family by plane to
visit my grandparents. As I missed them so much,I felt so excited when I met them. We
stayed in Jakarta for five days.
We spent most of the time gathering and sharing many things. We also visited a few tourist
resorts in Jakarta. One of them was the National Monument, the icon of Jakarta. It is
located in Central Jakarta. I could see the scenery of Jakarta city from the observation deck,
located at the top of the monument. I also enriched my knowledge about Indonesian
history, by observing the dioramas.
I had a wonderful time in Jakarta. That’s all. I look forward to your reply soon.
Regards,

Housing in Japan includes modern and traditional styles. Two patterns of
residences are predominant in contemporary Japan: the single-family
detached house and the multiple-unit building, either owned by an individual or
corporation and rented as apartments to tenants, or owned by occupants. Additional
kinds of housing, especially for unmarried people, include boarding houses (which

barracks (for members of the Self-Defense Forces, police and some other public
employees).

limited lifespan, and are generally torn down and rebuilt after a few decades,
generally twenty years for wooden buildings and thirty years for concrete buildings.
According to a housing survey carried out in 1993, single-family homes
accounted for 59.2% of all housing in Japan. In 1997, it was estimated that about
60% of Japanese lived in detached houses. In 1998, 52% of all dwellings
in Japan were found to consist of detached houses owned by their residents, 36%

The following text is for questions number 41 to 43.
Mosquitoes are members of a family of nematocerid flies. Most species of
mosquitoes are harmless. However, several species carry and transmit diseases such as
malaria, yellow fever, and dengue fever to human and other animals.
The mosquito’s body consists of head, thorax, and abdomen. The round head has
a long proboscis which it uses to suck the blood from the human or animal. Like flies,
mosquito’s feet are equipped with claws for attaching to host’s skin .
Mosquitoes go through four stages in their lifecycles. They include egg, larva,
pupa, and adult phases. These stages usually last 5 to 14 days, depending on the species
and temperature. Eggs hatch to become larvae, which grow until they are able to change
into pupae. The adult mosquito emerges from the mature pupa as it floats at the water
surface.
Although some mosquitoes feed on blood, most of them eat nectar. The males do
not drink blood from animals or humans. Beside feeding on nectar, the females have to
drink blood to get protein from it. It is used to make eggs mature. They can’t form this
vital component on their own, so blood is used. Some mosquitoes don’t require blood to
lay eggs. They prey on the larvae of other mosquitoes.
