ABSTRACT
Vocabulary is one of the most important elements in teaching and learning a
language. The most commonly problems occur in learning if the students are not
familiar with the vocabulary given. The purpose of the present study was to profile
the vocabulary used in one students’ textbook of BIPE program. This study used a
descriptive method. All pages in the textbook with ten chapters on it were used as the
sample of the study. The analysis used an electronic tool name the Compleat Lexical
Tutor which can be accessed at http://www.lextutor.ca/. The findings showed the
cumulative percentage of the overall vocabulary profile in the textbook from K-1, K2, and AWL words (93.73%). The findings also showed the negative vocabulary
profile (not found words) based on the New General Service List (NGSL) which is as
much as 20.33% for K-1, 61.97% for K-2, and 32.16% for K-3.
