Reasons for Choosing the Topic Hypothesis Objectives of the Study

and Atkinson say that “Achiement motivation should be characterzed by high hopes of success rather than by fear of failure”. The other factor is teaching learning process. In teaching reading, the teacher should use various interesting media and material in order to motivate the students in learning reading skill. The media also should be easy to understand. They must stimulate students ’ interest in reading and support their enthusiasm. By motivating the students using the variation of the media, the students’ ability in reading will be improved. Nowadays, the technology in the world increases fast, we could get some profits of it.

1.2 Reasons for Choosing the Topic

Reasons for choosing the topic in this research are first the writer chooses state junior high school as the subject in her research because she thinks state junior high school becomes favorite school and the first choice for parents to deliver their students to study. Then, she takes Mts as the other subject of her research because she thought many people think that Mts is different with formal school. They think that Mts as the second choice after state junior high school. The writer uses reading comprehension as the tool to describe the difference because she thinks most interested in reading. So to measure students’ achievement she uses reading comprehension. Teacher usually uses reading comprehension to measure reading achievement. She uses visual aids as a media to convey the text because she thinks nowadays we need change the old reading habit such as using textbook. We have to use an interesting media that’s why she uses visual aids. We have to take the benefit of progression the technology.

1.3 Hypothesis

Hypothesis According to Wikipedia, hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable phenomenon. The hypothesis of this study is there is difference of students’ achievement between state junior high school and Mts in Reading comprehension through visual aids. Null hypothesis is typically proposes a general or default position, such as that there is no relationship between two measured phenomenon or that a potential treatment has no effect. The null hypothesis of this study is there is no difference of students’ achievement between state junior high school and Mts through visual aids.

1.4 Statements of the Problem

In this thesis, the writer intends to solve the following problem: 1. How is reading visual aids used in teaching reading comprehension?

2. What is the difference of

students’ achievement in reading comprehension in state junior high school and Mts through visual aids?

1.5 Objectives of the Study

The objectives of this study are: 1. To explain the application of visual aids as a media in teaching reading comprehension. 2. To describe the significant difference between students’ achievement of state junior high school and Mts in reading comprehension through visual aids.

1.6 Significance of the Study
