them. Therefore, the result was not really good in the first cycle.
However, the condition was different in the fourth and fifth assessments. Sixteen out of thirty participants passed the passing grade in the fourth
assessment. It meant that 53.3 of participants succeeded in achieving the passing grade. The percentage increased 33.9 from the percentage in the first
assessment. It showed that the participants had started being accustomed to content-focus assessment. Their listening competence was really measured in this
assessment and their understanding on the recording was needed to do it. From the fifth assessment, seventeen out of thirty participants passed the
passing grade of the school. Thus, 56.7 of the participants had passed it. It increased 3.4 from the percentage in the second assessment. According to the
second indicator of success in this research, more than 50 the participant had to achieve the passing grade, the two results of the fourth and fifth assessments
showed that the use of content-focus assessment achieved the goal of the research, i.e. improving students’ listening skill. As Theresa Butori 2010: 2 explained that
assessment focusing on the content had a significant impact to students’ learning.
