50 taken from the average sentences of three sample passages. And the Y value was taken from the average number syllables of three sample passages of the textbook. In most study of readability, counting the sentences was by selecting the passage, and then limits counting the sentences until the hundredth word of the passage. Meaning that, the estimation was one sentence per 10 words. To find out the X value, it needed to know the number of syllables of the passage. The first passage comprises 279 words and 403 syllables. On the other words, it consisted of 149 syllables in a hundred words. The second passage consisted of 132 words and 203 syllables. It was about 153 syllables in a hundred words.
