3 Based on the explanation above, there are inconsistencies in the point of
view of Chaer and KBBI in the borrowings, for example: ‘Diagnostic’ is written
into different spellings ‘Diagnosa’ and ‘Diagnostic’. It shows inconsistencies in
process of borrowing. Inconsistent borrowings are the word that is written inappropriate with KBBI or Chaer. Whereas, consistent borrowings are the word
that are translated in bahasa Indonesia based on KBBI and Chaer. Therefore, I am inter
ested in analyzing the borrowings taken from a book “International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related health Problems ICD- 10
” to investigate the inconsistencies.
1.2 The Problems to Discuses
This research takes English as source language SL and Indonesian as target language TL. I try to discover the consistencies or inconsistencies
occurring in the translation of borrowings in the TL.
1.3 Research Question
Based on the research background above, the research problems are
formulated as follows:
1. What types of borrowings are applied in the guidelines?
2. Do the borrowings suit to Indonesian borrowings based on The Standard
spelling system by Chaer’s and The Comprehensive Indonesian Dictionary Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia?
1.4 The Goals of the Study
In line with the problems to discuss, this study also has some goals that must be achieved and also used to answer the problem of this thesis. They are:
1. Discovering types of borrowings applied in the guidelines
2. Providing the consistencies or inconsistencies found in English borrowings
based on The Standard Spelling S ystem by Chaer’s and The
Comprehensive Indonesian Dictionary Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia.

1.5 The Scope of the Study
This thesis deals with analyzing the subject matter which concerns with analysis of borrowing words in medical terms.
1.6 The Significance of the Study
The research expects that this research will be beneficial for the students and other researchers. The researcher hopes by reading this study, the reader will
broaden the knowledge about borrowing. Finally, the researcher hopes that it can also be used by other researchers who have the same interest in borrowing field.
1.7 The Organization of the Study
This thesis covers five chapters. Chapter one is introduction. It deals with the background of study, the problems of study, the goals of study, the
significance of study, and the last is the organization of study. Chapter two is theoritical review. It concerns with literature review and
theoretical framework. Literature review explains some related researchers in the previous time, while the theoretical review provides the description of the
underlying supporting theories used in the study. Research methodology in chapter three consists of strategy of research,
type of data, data collection and data analysis. Chapter four is discussion. It contains the analysis of data. Chapter five is conclusion. It composes the
conclusions of the discussion in the previous chapters.
