CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
A. Conclusion
Based on research result that has been explained in the previous chapter, it can be drawn conclusions, those are:
1. Student reading comprehension in exploring descriptive text in all classes is 65,54 by the description of average score of each class as 8D with average
score 63,41 , 8E with 77,80 , 8F with 78,51 , and 8G with 77,80. And the average of all classes is 65,54.
2. There is no difference of pre-test average score between experimental and control group which proven by pre-test result based on test of Mann Whitney
U, where the result of significance value is 0,461 0,05. 3. There is significant difference in post-test average score between experimental
and control group which proven by post-test result based on test of Mann Whitney U, where the result of significance value is 0,000 0,05. In addition
the average score of experimental group is higher than control group, by SPSS result interpretations, it means learning with implementation of GIST Strategy
is effective to improve student reading comprehension in exploring descriptive text.

Suggestion
1. For teacher: English teacher in second grade of SMPN 4 Surabaya can implement GIST strategy in teaching reading of exploring descriptive text and
another variant technique in order students can be motivated. 2. For students: students can improve the reading activities either in the school or
home. Reading is a process of training, training may not give a perfection but it can give an improvement.
3. For school SMPN 4: reading activities in the school need be improved. Book collection in the library also can be added by other variant books, it should be
paid attention, thus student’s interest can grow. 4. For other researcher: Other researcher can use this research as an additional
reference to carry out the similar research but in different kind of text and different student level.
