1 Alphabet Game
Alphabet game is a w ord game w hich can be played by a st udent or a group w hich consist s of t w o or four st udent s t o make a new w ord from t he
last let t er of t he previous w ord, but t he t ime is only in five minut es t o get many w ords. The group w hich get s many w ords in five m inut es, t hey w ill be

Convent ional St rat egy Based on t he w rit er’s experience during t he research, t he English
t eacher in t he cont rol group applied t he convent ional st rat egy. This st rat egy w as indicat ed by giving explanat ion of mat erials. In t his case, t he t eacher
explained t he mat erials based on t ext book monot onously. The t eacher w as dominant in t he classroom w hich caused t he difficult y for t he st udent s t o
express t heir ideas and ask quest ions, w hen t hey did not underst and t he t eacher’s explanat ion. The t eacher only t aught t he mat erials on t he text book
w it hout developing it . The st udent s only got lit t le comprehension because t he t eacher did not encourage t hem t o analyze t he concept in t ext book. As a
result t he st udent s only did exercises given by t heir t eachers and did not know t he purpose of st udying t he mat erials. Generally, t eachers w ho apply
t his st rat egy w ill find t heir st udent s are only able t o memorize t he mat erials and not able t o underst and t o apply t he concept in t heir daily life.
