examined in order to decide the strategy used to translate the word.
5. Writing up the Report
After finishing the data analysis, the writer wrote the results of the analysis in form of research report. The writer wrote the report from planning
research, gathering and analyzing the data, and obtaining research results. The results were presented as the discussion of each research problem.
The first discussion was about the English transitive verbs and their translation found in the first chapter of the bilingual book. The result of the first
research problem was in the form of English and Indonesian transitive verb list presented in a table.
The second discussion was about strategies used to translate the transitive verbs from English to Indonesian. The strategies were obtained by examining
those verbs and the translation based on strategies proposed by Newmark 1988. Besides presenting the results, the writer also provided conclusions, implications,
and recommendations of this study.

CHAPTER IV RESEARCH RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents research results. This chapter discusses the results based on the research problems. The first research problem is concerned with
transitive verbs and their translation found in Reid’s book. The second research
problem deals with strategies used to translate the transitive verbs in the book. The discussion is presented based on the sequence of the research problems. Part
A presents the result of the first research problem and part B presents the result of the second research problem.
A. Transitive Verb Patterns and the Verb Translation in
Reid’s Book
Gerot and Wignell 1995: 56 state that verbs themselves sometimes a bit difficult to be considered as transitive or intransitive. Verbs which are applied in
clauses are possible to be considered as transitive or intransitive. Therefore, the clauses in the book were analyzed in order to identify whether the verbs inside
were transitive. The analysis was based on the transitive verb patterns. The writer identified transitive verbs in
Reid’s book based on the transitive verb patterns. Based on the data analysis, there were 170 transitive
verbs. Those transitive verbs were in the form of active and passive voice. There were 112 transitive verbs in active voice and 58 transitive verbs in the passive.
