Tragedy The War is Won Death

Abe decides to free the slaves under the Souths control, and announces the Emancipation Proclaimation, and takes joy at the slaves violently rebelling against their vampiric masters. Smith 2012:349 says, “Now, gentlemen, let us starve the devils into defeat by declaring every slave in the South free.” Abe was then called for one last hunt by Henry, where he investigates a cabin that turns out to be a trap. Smith 2012:288 says, “Abraham, I must ask one more errand of you. He is one of your kind-but looked after by two of mine at all times. Take every caution. Jefferson Davis.” The leader of the vampires there is Jefferson Davis, who believes that he will have power when the vampires rule America. However, at the last second, Henry and his vampire allies arrive just in time to slaughter the enemy vampires as Davis retreats. Smith 2012:299 says, “we still lived. Our executioners, however, were not as fortunate. All three fell in unison, bullets having torn through their skulls. It was a miracle. That miracle was Henry Sturges. He charged out of the dark with eleven Union vampires on his heels.” Henry congratulates Abe on the hunt, while Abe retires from hunting all together. Smith 2012:301 says, “Abraham, I’m pleased to see you alive, old friend.” And Smith 2012:302 says, “It would be the last hunt of Abe’s life.”

3.5 Tragedy

Abe led a happy life with his wife and children, but several of his children died of sickness, leaving his wifes mental health deteriorating. However, the final nail on the coffin is in when a vampire sneaks onto the White House lawn and Universitas Sumatera Utara poisons Willy Lincoln. Smith 2012:332 says, “The stranger had grabbed his face, he said, pried his mouth open, and poured something “bitter” into it.” Abe was at first relieved that Willy was healthy when he was immediately checked for illness, but lamented when his son became sick like his grandmother before him and died. Smith 2012:334 says, “Mary could not bring herself to hold another of our little boys as he left this earth. It fell to me to cradle our sleeping son against my chest and gently rock him through the night… through the next morning… and through the day that followed. I refused to let him go; refused to let go of that faintest hope that God would not be so cruel.”

3.6 The War is Won

Eventually, the North won over the South, and Abe could not be happier with the results. Smith 2012:356 says, “As horrible as Antietam was, it was the victory that Abe had been waiting for.” Until Henry writes to him again informing him of the vampires retreat back to Europe. Smith 2012:363 says, “It brings me joy to report that our enemy has begun its exodus-many back to Europe, others to South America and the Orient where they are less likely to be hunted.” Happy for the first time in years, Abraham decides to celebrate the victory by inviting several politicians to see a play with him and Mary. 3.7 Death

However, the celebration was tragically interrupted when meglo-manic vampire actor John Wilkes Booth plan to kill Lincoln to inspire the vampires to come back and aimed at the back of Lincolns head and fired at point-blank range, mortally wounding the President. Smith 2012:381 says, “Booth held steady, waiting, as Hawk’s voice boomed through the theater. He crept forward, leveled the pistol at the back of Lincoln’s head, and carefully…carefully pulled the hammer back. Booth fired.” The dying Lincoln was taken across the street to a nearby house where he lost consciousness upon being laid on a bed. Smith 2012:385 says, “ Charles Leale, twenty-three, helped his fellow soldiers lower the president onto a bed on the first floor of Petersen’s Boarding House-directly across the street from Ford’s Theater.” Nine hours later, Lincoln died. Smith 2012:386 says, “Abraham Lincoln died at 7:22 in the morning, on the Ides of April 1865.” Abe was buried at his birthplace, and his son Willy was exhumed to be place alongside his father. Smith 2012:392 says, “On the morning of April 21 st , 1865, Abraham Lincoln’s funeral train left Washington and began the journey home to Springfield.” After his burial, Henry made a choice and dug Lincoln up to do something that would shock those who would open the casket later. Smith 2012:395 says, “In fact, none had even managed to pry the president’s heavy casket lid open. If they had, they would have been shocked by what they found.” Universitas Sumatera Utara
