There is the tendency that low self-confident students want to look perfect, therefore they work hard to cover up mistakes and fix the problem before anyone notices. They
want to stay in their comfort zone without having much burden to understand some words. It can be assumed that synthetic phonics method can be helpful to teach low
self-confident students because they do not need to memorize the meaning of the words. As a result, they feel that learning through synthetic phonics is not burdening.
To sum up, the writer assumes that there is an interaction between method and self-confidence. The students who have high self-confidence perform better in
analytical phonics method, while those who have low self-confidence show better result in synthetic phonics method.
