repeatedly. If opened, the transportation run slowly. The explosion of the BP Migas
pipeline on November 22, 2006 cause the highway completely submerged by the mud
finally, even the bridge over the Porong was dismantled due to shift and crack. This aimed
to avoid possibility of collapse at any time to road users.

6. TECHNICAL
DISASTER MANAGEMENT
6.1 Military Role
Indonesian Military TNI performed the overall disaster management at the early stage
of mudflow prior to the National Team established.
The Indonesian
military represented by Yon Zipur 5 Malang not only
focus safety of embankment and mud flow termination facilities but also management
planning and implementation, transportation of refugees as well as public kitchens in New
Market Porong. After the National Team established, the embankment built by Yon
Zipur 10 replacing Yon Zipur 5 Malang.
