k. The Ability to Present Procedure Texts in English

Figure 4.2 The Result of the Ability to Present Procedure Texts in English Figure 4.2 shows the result of the eleventh statement of the students’ self assessment. There were twelve students or seventy one percent of the respondents who assessed themselves that they were able to present procedure texts in English after the implementation. This result signified that the students were able to achieve the standard and basic competence of the lesson. The standard competence was expressing the meaning of the essay texts in the form of recount, narrative, and procedure in the daily life context. Meanwhile, the basic competence was expressing the meaning and rhetorical steps in monolog texts using various written languages accurately, fluently, acceptably in daily life context in the form of: recount, narrative, and procedure.

l. The Ability to Use Various Vocabularies to Avoid Repetition

The result of the questionnaire showed that there were eleven students who agreed that after the implementation, they could use various vocabularies in order to avoid repetition. The result of the interview assured this data. The respondent said that after learning through TBL, she recognized the synonym of some words. 71 29 Agree Disagree 50 “setelah mengerjakan tugas kosa kata, kosa kata saya bertambah, kosa kata yang saya ketahui tidak hanya itu-itu saja, tapi bisa dengan kata-kata yang lain.” Respondent2 After completing the tasks, my knowledge about the English vocabulary improved, I knew new words.

m. The Ability to Converse with the Teacher and Other Students

There were fourteen students who agreed that their speaking skill in using English when they talked with the teacher and other students was improved. One of the interview respondents said that he could express his idea in speaking more fluently than he did before the implementation. The respondent said that he had a better understanding on speaking about procedure texts. “perubahan speakingku ya meningkat, lebih lancar, lebih jelas jugalah speaking tentang prosedur.”Respondent3 My speaking skill was improved, it became more fluent, and my understanding on speaking about procedure texts was also improved.

n. The Ability to Communicate in Daily Conversation using Vocabularies

Had been Learned The last assessment focused on whether the students communicated in daily conversation using the vocabulary they had learned or not. The result of the questionnaire presented that there were nine students who agreed with the statement. The students used the vocabulary which they had learned during the implementation process while they were communicating in their daily conversations. On the contrary, eight students disagreed with the statement. The interview result showed that those students did not apply the vocabulary outside the English class. Moreover, the students used the vocabulary when communicating with the teacher only.
