in the class helps the students to complete the tasks independently, was to find out the students‟ opinion toward the benefit of cooperative learning implemented in
their class. The students should be able to perform independently even though they work cooperatively Johnson et al., 1994. The result of the research showed
that three students 9.67 answered strongly agree, 26 students 83.87 answered agree, two students 6.45 answered disagree and none of the students
answered strongly disagree. It can be said that the two students which answered disagree did not feel that they could perform individually when they were in a
group discussion. The 83.87 students felt that they were able to perform individually while having a group discussion and the 9.67 students felt that they
were able to show high individual performance in a group discussion. The research statement number eight was to discover whether cooperative
learning developed the students‟ English skills. There was ten students 32.25

strongly agreed, 17 students 54.83 agreed. The rest four students 12.90 disagreed with that research statement.
The ninth research statement was to find out whether the teacher of the course gave chances to the students for consultation when they had difficulties in
completing the task. The research resulted nine students 29.03 answered strongly agree, 19 students

answered agree to the research statement. Although most of the students answered positively, there are a student 3.22
answered disagree and two students 6.45 answered strongly disagree that the teacher gave the students chances to consult in a class discussion.

The tenth research statement, the individual assignment can enrich the students‟ knowledge, was to find out whether the assignment given by the teacher
could enrich the students‟ knowledge. The result showed that four 12.90, out of 31 students, strongly agreed with the research statement. As much as 21
students 67.74 agreed that the individual assignment could enrich their English proficiency. Yet, there were five students 16.12 answered disagree
and a student 3.22 answered strongly disagree. They did not have the same idea that the individual assignment could enrich their knowledge. The reason that
the students claimed are because they put lack of interest in English.

The eleventh research statement was to figure out whether the take home assignment could trigger the students to study more about English materials. The
result of the research showed that seven 22.58 of the students strongly agreed that the take home assignment could encourage the students to study more about
the materials. 20 students 64.51 agreed with the research statement. Meanwhile, there were four students 12.90 disagreed that the take home
assignment could encourage the students to study more about the materials. The result of the twelfth research statement was about the teaching method
used in class that could help the students to develop their own learning strategy. The result showed that seven students 22.58 strongly agreed and 22 students
70.96 agreed that teaching method used in class that could help the students to develop their own learning strategy. On the contrary, two students 6.45
disagreed with the research statement. The thirteenth research statement was to find out if the teaching method
used in class could help the students to develop their own knowledge. The result of this statement showed that 13 students 41.93 strongly agreed and 18
students 58.06 agreed to the statement. None of the students neither disagreed nor strongly disagreed that the teaching method used in class could help the
students to develop their own knowledge. The student stated:
Yap, we could work together in the implementation of cooperative learning. We could study and share related to the material. Therefore, it could increase my

research statement, the teaching method used in class develops
the students‟ interest to study more, was to find out whether the teaching method used in class developed
the students‟ interest to study English materials more. The result showed that eight 25.80, out of 31 students, strongly agreed
with the research statement. There were 18 students 58.06 agreed the teaching method used in class developed
the students‟ interest to study English materials more. Yet, there were four students 12.90 answered disagree and a student
3.22 answered strongly disagree. They perceived that the teaching method used in class could not develop their interest to study English materials more.
The
fifteenth
research statement was aimed to gain the students‟ opinion on the teaching method used in class that could make the students understand the
materials easily. The result showed that eight students 25.80 chose SA Strongly Agree, 23 students 74.19 chose A Agree and none of the students
neither disagreed nor strongly disagreed. The result proved that the students were benefited from the teaching method used in class. The 29.03 students felt that
the teaching method used in class that could make the students understand the materials easily. While the rest 70.96 students felt that the teaching method
used in class that could make the students understand the materials easy enough. It can be said that all of the students experienced positive influences of cooperative
learning implemented in the English class. The students claimed:
It depended on the difficulty level of the task, when there was a difficult the task, we could share and ask to other group members. Therefore, difficult tasks could
