Nature of Data Learners` beliefs about autonomy in language learning.

Independent Language Learning Center ILLC is located on the third floor. This ILLC was established in 2013. During the first year there are only few learners who actually know and visit the place. Then now after almost two-year of the existence of the ILLC, many learners has become its member and it seems like it has become their favorite place to find English resources. It has hundreds of story books, resource books, and journals. It also provides multimedia facilities like television that connected to international channels, a home theater, computers, and audio equipment. ILLC service is open in work hour from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. During the service hour, learner can visit this place for free. The staffs are some learners volunteer, English Instructor and English department lectures. The staffs‟ jobs are to help users in using the equipment, and in finding the resources the users needed. The place of the research was chosen since the research were working in the same place and it made the data collection more feasible during the working hour. 2. Samples The samples in this research were selected using simple one-stage cluster sample. According to Ahmed 2009 in this sampling technique the researcher should list all the clusters in the population, and from the list, select the clusters –with simple random sampling SRS strategy. All units elements in the sampled clusters are selected for the survey. This research included 100 respondents who were registered as member of ILLC in Yogyakarta State University to share their perspectives and PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI opinions in relation with their language learning. The respondent came from some study programs. According to the pre-test that held by ILLC before the course, these group were at beginner level of English proficiency. There were only 100 respondents that consist of 42 male learners and 58 female learners could be covered to be the samples of research subject since there were only 4 classes that consist of 25 learners available in the course during one semester in ILLC.

E. Data Gathering Techniques

This research was aimed to reveal a description of the learners beliefs about autonomous learning. This section will show the steps of data collection. The form of inquiry employed one instrument which is Questionnaire. The researcher visited ILLC and distribute the questionnaire to ILLC users to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to the learners to collect quantitative data. The tools needed to fill the questionnaire was a pen. The researcher distribute the pen to all respondents. The researcher prepared the tools being based on the ideas of the researchers like Zhang and Li 2004, Lamb and Reinders 2008, and others.

F. Data Analysis

First, with regard to the questionnaire data, the learners responses to the Likert-scale items were collated, tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results were presented in percentages. As was the case PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI
