4. The Interpretation of the Data
From the data calculation above, it is obtained that the result of t
o
is 47.4 and it is looked at the table of significant at 5 and 1 as follows: At significance level 5 is 1.99
At significance level 1 is 2.65 It means that
t
o
t
t
= 47.4 1.99 in significance level 5 t
o
t
t
= 47.4 2.65 in significance level 1 Thus, t
o
t
t
1.99 47.4 2.65 The result of statistic calculation indicates that t
o
t
t
in 5 and 1 significant level. It means there is obvious difference between the average
score from the result of teaching the simple past tense in experiment class and controlled class.
Based on the analysis on the results in the table above, it can be inferred that teaching the simple past tense using Audio Lingual Method is
more effective than teaching the simple past tense using Grammar Translation Method.

CHAPTER IV CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS
A. Conclusion
After finding out the result and analyzing the data of research about the teaching simple past tense through Audio Lingual Method to the second grade
students of SMP Islam Al-Fajar Kedaung-Pamulang, it can be summarized that by using t-test at the level of significance 5, is got t
o
is bigger than t
table
, that is t
o
= 47.4 t
table
= 1.99, it shows that there is a significant difference between the students‟ score in teaching simple past tense by using Audio Lingual
Method and Grammar Translation Method. It can be seen from means score of the two classes, mean of the class with Audio Lingual Method is 70 and mean
of the class with Grammar Translation Method is 65. From the explanation above, it
can be concluded that the students‟ score in teaching simple past tense by using Audio Lingual Method is higher than the
students‟ score in teaching simple past tense by using Grammar Translation Method. It means that the Null Hypothesis H
o
is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis H
a
is accepted. Thus, there is positive significant different between the teaching simple past tense using Audio Lingual Method and using
Grammar Translation Method.
