This paper discusses racial discrimination which happens to black people in Jackson, Mississippi, America in 1960. With an interesting story, beginning with the friendship of two women aged 50 years, named Aibeleen and Minny who worked as a maid in the home of a white people. Aibeleen and Minny get racial discrimination in their place work and in the neighborhood. In this paper the there has been racial d writer describe of discrimination in many aspects, such as: housing, schools, hospitals, libraries till existing laws in Jackson, Mississippi. In writing this paper, the writer use library research method, finding data from novel .From the results of discrimination data collection that occurred in this novel, proved that racial discrimination truly did happened by white people to black people, not only for individuals but also for the social environment. Hopefully racial discrimination does not occur again in any form in our lives. Universitas Sumatera Utara ABSTRAK Kertas karya ini berjudul “Discrimination between Black and White Found in Kathryn Stockett’s Novel The Help”. Kertas karya ini membahas diskriminasi rasial di Jackson, Missisipi, Amerika pada tahun 1960 yang terjadi pada warga yang berkulit hitam. Dengan cerita yang menarik, diawali dengan persahabatan dua wanita yang berumur 50 tahun, yang bernama Aibeleen dan Minny yang sama-sama bekerja sebagai pembantu di rumah orang yang berkulit putih. Aibeleen dan Minny mendapatkan perlakuan diskriminasi rasial di tempat mereka bekerja dan di lingkungan sekitarnya. Di dalam kertas karya ini penulis menggambarkan diskriminasi rasial dalam berbagai aspek kegiatan sehari-hari seperti di dalam rumah, sekolah, rumah sakit, perpustakaan hingga hukum hukum yang ada di Jackson, Mississipi. Dalam penulisan kertas karya ini, penulis menggunakan metode perpustakaan, yaitu mencari data dari novel tersebut. Dari hasil pengumpulan data diskriminasi yang terjadi di novel ini, di buktikan bahwa diskriminasi rasial benar terjadi di lakukan kulit putih terhadap org kulit hitam tidak hanya bagi perorangan tapi juga bagi lingkungan sosial Universitas Sumatera Utara ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.
