B. Suggestions
Having presented the findings in this study, the researcher proposes some suggestions. The suggestions are directed to the English teacher, especially junior
high school English teacher, and other researcher as well. The suggestions here are different from the possible solutions which have been discussed in Chapter III.
a. For Other English Teachers Scanning technique could be chosen as reading technique which
encourages students to be effective and efficient readers. The teacher should emphasize scanning technique because it facilitates the students to comprehend
the texts better. The teacher should not only emphasize bottom-up level reading in their class, since it inhibits the students to be effective and efficient readers.
However, there are some considerations in implementing scanning technique. Firstly, teachers should encourage students to simply glance over the texts and get
important details of the text. The repetition of scanning technique will encourage the students to implement scanning technique as their strategy in comprehending
KTSP texts. Secondly, since the students are the bottom up readers, teachers are challenged in creating effective and efficient reading comprehension.
b. For Other Researchers In this research, the researcher employed case study to four ninth grade
students. In consequence, the results of this study could not be generalized to

other junior high school students. Therefore, the researcher suggests other researchers who are interested in investigating further about the implementation of
scanning technique to apply action research or experiment so that the result of the study would be generalized widely.
